I think it is cute but I think it can be done more subtly.

I work at a charity and we got a donation the other day from a Peter Peters. I thought that was kind of amusing. It's also amusing/cute when people with similar names get married (e.g., Lois & Lewis, Christopher & Christine, Alexandra & Alexander, etc.)

I dated a Matt once, I'm a Megan. I never realized how similar our names sounded because of alliteration until we'd been dating a while. I just stopped in the middle of a conversation and said, "Say our names together with an "and" in between."

He said it to himself and visibly gasped.

I decided to not date another "Ma" name after that.
