Hey, I'm new to this community and thought I would post my list of favorite names. It's not long because I'm kind of picky with the names I would actually name my possibly future children.

Girls:
Roxxane (This has been my #1 fav name for about 10 years, but I have finally realized that I can't name a child of mine that, because that would lead to the nickname Roxy and I don't like that, roxy is more of a dog name to me)
Helmy (This is my great grandmothers middle name, and I like it but I won't have it as a first name)
Rebecca/Rebecah (My mom was going to name me this but didn't, and now it's my little sisters middle name, but I like it for a first name)

Boys:
William (This I have had for as long as Roxxane, my little brother and grandfather both has this as on of thier middle name)
Liam

As you can see it's very short lists, and I also like names spelled differently, for example I named my cat Leiah, which is a combination of Leia (from star wars) and Leah (from twilight).

And I also noticed that most people here picks 2 names, one first and one middle name. In Sweden we often have 2 middle names, for example my family (first names bold)

Dad: Rolf Jörgen Patrick
Mom: Anna Maria Katarina
Me: Anna Cassandra Louise
Brother: Rolf William Sebastian
Sister: Ebba Amanda Rebecca

So as I have a very short list, do you have some suggestions that you might think I like?

i've known a girl named hanna for years and only recently i found out that wasn't her real name - i had gone to camp with her as a child and found out in college, when we took a class together, because her real name was on the roster. so i asked her about it. her real name? roxanne. her older brother couldn't get the first syllable down when they were really little and called her hanne, which somehow turned into hanna, and that stuck. i doubt you'd name a child roxanne/roxxane and intentionally call them hanna, but that's an option to consider :)

I don't see why Roxxane has to have Roxy as a nick-name. If you insist on Ann or even Roxxane, there's a good chance that'll stick. I say use it if you really love it. :)

I know a Roxan and it would never even occur to me to call her "Roxy". If you correct family members/friends in childhood, things like that tend to not stick.

So the bolded names are the ones you go by, right?

As a teacher, may I please suggest you avoid alternative spellings that are *too* creative? Kids have a hard enough time without constantly having to spell their names for the teacher.

vad intressant! out of curiosity, in sweden does your first name not necessarily need to be in the front? i noticed the first names you bolded are mostly in the center in each of the names of you and your family members! (:

welcome

I'm half Swedish so I'm having to explain the whole "the first name isn't always first in the order of names" thing all the time too haha! My names are in "order" (Malin Gisela, Malin being the name I go by) but my brother is called Lars Pontus, and he goes by Pontus. Lars is his middle name. People here (in the UK) get so confused when they spot it. I like that about the Scandinavian way of doing it - you pick the order that flows the best and I'm definitely planning on doing that for my future kids too.

I don't personally feel much for Roxxane, but if you like it don't let the possibility of Roxy used as a nickname put you off. William is nice, and Liam is on my short list too. :)

Using Helmy as a middle name, after someone that meant a lot to you is lovely I think. Rebecca is on my list for middle names (after my best friend - it's her middle name).

As for names you might like what about Oliver, Lewis, Elliot, Viggo or Didrik?

And maybe Ramona, Olivia, Samantha or Elise?
