[identity profile] thelasttruth.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Have you guys played the ABC game yet? It's where you post your favourite name for each letter. I find it quite fun, and I'm curious about the favourite names of other people. I did it over the summer but
Adelaide - this name is of German origin and means noble and serene. If I found out I was having a baby girl right now I would name her Adelaide Loralei Josephine Hope. I also love this name because it's the name of the Girl Guide camp I went to twice a year for most of my childhood.
Atticus - this one is of Latin origin and means from Attica. I tend to love boy names ending in -us and this one is just fun to say. My second favourite boy combination is Atticus Finnley Wilder Truth

Belle - this one if of French origin and means beautiful. Usually I prefer longer names but when I was little I wanted to grow up to be Belle from Beauty and the Beast (which was my favourite movie) so this name has always had a spot in my heart.
Blair - this name is of Irish origin and means plain field. I hear it's starting to be used as a girls name but I definitely prefer it for a boy.

Coralie - this name is of French origin and means little maiden.
Caius - pronounced kye-us, this name is of Latin origin and means person of the earth. If I found out I was having a baby boy right now I'd name him Caius Oakley Zaide Reason.

Demetria - this one is of Greek origin and means cover of the earth, which I just think is so pretty.
Darius - this one is also of Greek origin and means wealthy.

Elodie - this one is of French origin and means rich. I had a hard time picking this one as I love names beginning with E, especially names beginning with EL but Elodie is just fun to say and it's super pretty.
Emery - this one is of German origin and means industrious leader

Faya - this is a form of Faye and has English origins (a form of faith) as well as French origin (fairy/elf)
Finnley - this name is of Irish origin and means blond-haired soldier. I'd loved Finn for a while name but lately I like Finnley more

Gwendolyn - this one is of Welsh origin and means white wave/white browed/new moon. I just think it's fun to say
Guire - this is short for Maguire and is of Irish origin meaning son of the beige one

Honora - this one is of Latin origin and means honourable
Harrison - this one is of English origin and just means son of Harry. Not the greatest meaning, but I like the name anyway

Isla - pronounced I-la, this is the name of the River Isla in Scotland. I started liking this one after I started liking Lila.
Icarus - this is a name from Greek mythology. Icarus was the guy with the wax wings who flew too close to the sun and melted the wings

Josephine - this one is of French origin and means God will increase. I don't know why, but I love this name.
Jasper - this name is of French origin and means ornamental stone

Kyrie - this is technically a Greek name meaning noble, but the choir nerd in me prefers the Latin pronounciation (kee-ree-ay) from the million songs that use it. I know Kyrie Eleison means "God have mercy" so I guess Kyrie means God? I would never use this name because it would be pronounced Kee-ree all the time but I do love it. I love both pronunciations actually
Kiernan -this one is of Irish origin and means son of a Lord

Loralei - this one is of German origin (usually spelled Lorelei, but I prefer the spelling with the A) is means alluring.
Leander - this one is of Greek origin and means lion-man, or brave as a lion. I'm not fond of L names for boys.

Meredith - this is a Welsh name that means protector of the sea
Max - this one is of Latin origin and means greatest. I just think it's such a cute name

Nataline - this is a Latin form of Natalie meaning born on Christmas day
Nicolei - this is a Russian for of Nicholas which means victorious people. I think this form is more fun to say than Nicholas

Oriella - this name is of Irish origin and means fair. This falls into the Elle names that I love so much. It's way too flowery for me to actually use, but I like it
Oakley - I had a hard time choosing between Oakley and Oliver, but I think I prefer Oakley. It of English origin and means oak-tree field

Petronella - this name is of Greek origin and means small rock. It can be shortened to Petra or Ella and I love both names so this is a nice combination
Paxton - this is of Latin origin and means peaceful town

Quinn - this is of both German and English origin and means queen
Quintin - this one is of Latin origin and means fifth. It's really the only O boy name I like. I prefer Quinn as a girl's name

Rhiannon - this is another Welsh name which means witch/nymph/goddess. I actually like this name better than Rhianna, even though I usually prefer names ending in A for girls but the -on ending just works so well for this name
River - I know this is my camp name so I should think it's a girls name (camp name means my Brownies call me River), but if I were to give it to a child it would be a boy's name as far as I'm concerned. It's of English origin

Scarlett - this name is of English origin and means bright red. This name doesn't feel like my typical style, but for some reason I love it anyway. I actually kicked Sadie and Seraphina off the list for this one, and those two are more my style.
Sage - this is an English name meaning wise

Tiara - this one is is of Latin origin and means crowned. I would never use this name for a human because it's far too girly but I love it's girliness
Trent - this one is of Latin origin and means rapid stream. I would never name my kid after my school, but I love the name anyway

Unity - this one is of English origin and means united. I'm not a huge fan, but there aren't many U names.
Ulysses - this one is of Latin origin and means wrathful. Again, not many U names to pick from

Vivianna - this is a Latin name meaning full of life. I love the nicknames Vivi and Anna, so this is a nice combination. My second favourire girls name is Vivianna Beatrix Elodie Joy
Valin - this is a form of Balin which is of Hindi origin and means nighty fighter. I'm not fond of V names for boys

Wren - this is a bird name of English origin. I've just recently begun really liking this name.
Wilder - this name is of English origin and means wilderness or wild. I just think it's a really cute name.

Xylia - this name is of Greek origin and is a form of Sylvia (forest)
Xian - this is a Galician form of Julian which means youthful

Yamina - this name is of Arabic origin and means right, propper
Yohann- I definitely prefer the Johann spelling but there are so few Y names. This one is of German origin and means God is gracious.

Zaynah - this is a name of Arabic origin meaning beautiful. I've loved it since I was a kid and we sang the song about Tzena at camp ("Tzena, Tzena, join the celebration, There'll be people there from ev'ry nation, Dawn will find us dancing in the sunlight, Dancing in the village square.") It's a happy little song that I've always loved.
Zaide - this is a Hebrew name meaning older.
