I know my boy names are effeminate.  I like that.

I'm been a name nerd for years.  Telling me you don't like them won't change my mind, but I would be interested in hearing your thoughts.  Be as kind or harsh as you wish.  They're just opinions; you can't offend me.

These names are not for actual children.  If anything, these names are for novel characters or simply for me to enjoy in theory.

I am partial to Murray because it was my dad's middle name; love Lennox and Darcy as well. Also Eliza, Georgiana, Juliet, Siân (my exchange student in high school was named Siân... she was awesome :)) and Philippa.

Siân lived in England... the rest of her family had traditional English names, so I don't know where her parents got her name from

My dad was from upstate New York. His middle name was the name (first or last I don't know) of the doctor who delivered him, or so the story goes. My uncles had family names, and there's no Murray anywhere in the rest of our family so I guess it's true lol

Siân is a traditional Welsh name. I know it's used in England.
It's the Welsh form of Jane though so I'm sure it's bridged the Wales to England thing no problem.

Boys:
Fionán / Finley (Fionán is pronounced fyun-AWN.) - Finley is fine, but Fionan makes me think of Funyuns.
Kieran - I love this name.
Miles / Milo - Either one is fine. I prefer Miles
Finch - I consider this a last name.
Shealyn "Shea" - Not my style at all. Shealyn seems very feminine to me.
Murray - Ok, not my style.
Cyril (pronounced SEER-el) - Eh.
Lennox - Not my style.
Vyvyan -I'm an Oscar Wilde fan. Can't help myself. Also, Vivian was first a boy name. - I wouldn't if you don't want the boy to be teased unmercifully all his life.
Darcy - Pretty much like Vyvyan.

I've heard the Funyuns thing before. I have a character named Fionán and when he is in a sour mood, the other characters refer to him as Fionion.

Finch is a surname. I adore To Kill A Mockingbird. I'd use Finch as a middle name if I ever used it, but I doubt I would.

I met a boy named Shealyn once. I've never met a girl named Shealyn, only Shayla.

The reason I said these names were for characters or just in theory was so I wouldn't get responses like this. They're not for real people. I wouldn't do this to my real child. Maybe the character was picked on all of his life.

Brencis, btw, is the Slavic form of Laurence. It's pronounced exactly as it looks and is used on both males and females. It even has a name day so I would assume it is in fairly common usage in some European countries.

I was thinking Finja for someone who lived someone who lived somewhere where the pronunciation would be obvious, not someone from an English speaking country.

I don't see many people liking Siân. Refreshing.

It's a perfectly obvious and valid pronounciation where I live. I know the OP asked for opinions, I just think if people start worrying about pronounciation all the time everyone would end up not naming their child anything at all because you won't find a name that everyone will pronounce the same way. :)

I've never seen Finja but I like it a LOT.

I also like Juliet, Philippa, Kieran, Miles/Milo, Finch and Lennox. Shea is pretty cool too - nicer than Shealyn, in my opinion!

Vivian for a boy doesn't bug me as much as I thought it would actually...it's quite nice. What does bug me is the double Y spelling, even if it's from a novel. Together with the V's it just looks crazy to my eyes.

Regardless, I quite like your naming style. It's quirky.

Shea is nicer than Shealyn, I agree, but I still like both. *shrug*

The Vyvyan spelling is actually the name of Oscar Wilde's son. (His other son was Cyril, also on my list. How did that happen?) I wouldn't dare ever use Vyvyan, but something about it just captivates me regardless.

I like the name Fionan. I would use that for a middle name. In my family middle names are the parents' names. My name is Fiona, so it would be perfect :D

That would be fairly cool.
I meet a lot of people who prefer it spelled Fionnan (which is also a perfectly legitimate spelling), but I think I like where you can see the "Fiona" so easily in it yet it still be a boys' name. There's just something cool about that. :)
