Nov. 10th, 2011 10:28 pmWith all the new users here in the community, I thought it would be a good time to find some new name material and to do so by listing the names of our children, or for those of you who are not parents, list your favorite names!

Date: 2011-11-11 06:33 am (UTC)My fave names:
Girls
Claire Margaret (after my grandmother Rita and my greataunt Marguerite)
Audrey Lorena/Philippa (my mom and grandmother's middle names are Lorraine, but my aunt passed away and her name was Phyllis so I would like to honour her as well)
Bridget, Veronica/Vera, Victoria (but I don't like any nicknames for it), Valentina, Francesca, Lucia/Lux, Viviane, Charlotte, Penelope (but it's my estranged aunt's name), Lila/Lilac, Genevieve, Helena/Elena, Serafina (but it's close to my name, Sara), Stella, Petra
boys
Robert William (there has been a Robert in every generation on my mom's maternal side since the 1700s, and my uncle was the last Robert and he passed away in 2000ish)
Henry Richard (not sure on middle name, it's my uncle who raised me)
Domenic (but it's an ex's name), Benjamin (but it's already taken by my cousin's son), Lukas, Konstantin (but I'm not in any way Eastern European, but I love their names, and nn Kostya)
Names I don't like cuz I don't think they age well: Kaylie/Hailey/Bailey (and variations), Kylie/Miley, Mc-anything (sorry, I just don't like them!), Jayden/Cayden/Brayden/etc, anything where they put an X instead of CK (Jaxon, Braxton, etc unless it's a Russian spelling with KS, which I like!), Finn/Quinn/Bryn, Marley/Carly/Harly. I guess I am more of a "classic" namer, but a lot of my old favourites became too popular - Ava/Eva, Grace, Sophia (still love! all spellings)

Date: 2011-11-11 07:43 am (UTC)Ok, I'm already prepared to get a lot of hate for one of my sons names.....
Kayden Alexus (m, 9)
Dylan Matthew (m, 2)
As should be obvious by the age difference, I was really young when I had my first. I wanted to name him Kade, but his father/my ex refused. We agreed on Kaden/Caden but since it was a newer thing then and I had never heard of it before, I didn't know how it was spelled. Wish I wouldn't have put the y, but I do like how his name sounds. If I could name him all over again, I would have disregarded his fathers input and gone with Kade. Also, I let his dad pick middle name, hence Alexus. I really hate it bc it makes the name as a whole sound feminine. Oops.
For the record, I'm Sarah Virginia and my husband (father of Dylan) is Matthew Patrick.
