[identity profile] nikislynch.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My name is Nicola Sarah, and my boyfriends name is Michael.
When we get married I plan to take my maiden name as a middle name.

For future kids, the names we have discussed are Hannah Abigail for a girl, and Scott James for a boy.
(James is a family name- all men in my family have it somewhere in their name! And my mum is Gail so Abigail is for her)
We've talked about what happens if we have multiple girls/boys.. and we like Michael William for a 2nd boy (William is his dads name), but cannot come up with another girls name!
I love Scarlett Alexis for a girl but he really doesnt!

Any thoughts?

I too took my maiden name as my middle name after I was married .We also gave my daughter my maiden name as her middle name so she could carry on my family name too.I do suggest that if your maiden name is "Sarah" that will be a great middle name but if you have a name that does not really constitute a middle name for your child I highly suggest you give her a middle name and your family name. I wish I would have done that because my maiden name does not fit being a middle name and she tells me often that she wishes she had a "normal" middle name. She is 17 now so it is more important right now to her but I'm sure that when she has kids she will carry on the tradition in addition to adding a better fit middle name for those important teenage years.By the way I love the names you have chosen. My daughter's name is Morgan. We also liked Kendall,Lyndsay, and Emily a lot back then.

I like Hannah Abigail a lot. =)

Hmm, Scott James sounds odd...depending on your last name, I think James Scott sounds better. Especially if your surname is at least 2 syllables.

Does he not like the pairing of Scarlett and Alexis, or one/both names in particular?

I can't say I'm enamored with Alexis, but I like Scarlett...how about Scarlett Anne (unless your last name is Gray, then I'd avoid unless you are Ohio State fans, LOL!), Scarlett Katherine, or Scarlett Alexandra depending how they sound with your surname?

Other feminine names I like: Paige, Elizabeth, Evelyn, Audrey, Lily/Lila, Sorcha (Irish for Sarah), Siobhán (but that's Irish for Hannah).
