Hey there, I'm a newbie, but I've been obsessed with name for a long time. For the record, my name is Mary Grace, and my siblings' names are Peter and JoJo (short for Josephine). My favorite names:
Boys:
Nicholas
Christopher
Alexander
Paul
Hugo
Ryan
Girls:
Christina
Isabel
Natalie
Lucy
Evelyn
Anyway, I volunteered at a children's museum for over two years, and I tended to "collect" names that stood out to me. I stopped volunteering there over a year ago, and these names have stuck with me:
1. A pair of brothers named Jagger and Cash. What are your opinions on using celebrity last names as nicknames? Do you think it's good to be obvious like that, or be more subtle, going with "Mick" and "Johnny"?
2. Four siblings named Orion, Griffin, Phoenix, and Azure (three boys and one girl). Opinions?

Date: 2011-11-08 02:08 am (UTC)If I where to feel so strongly about a celebrity to name my child after him/her I probably wouldnt name a second child afer a celeb as well, after one it gets to be a bit much.
Jagger & Cash, pretty cool names though.
welcome

I could never name my kid anything too obvious because my mom and/or sister would look at me, and say, "Really?" I'm not a fan of using obvious last names for first names, but I also know that there are a lot of names that are derivatives of last names. I guess you could say I tend to be more traditionalist even with my more modern tastes.
If I were to pick fandom-esque names, they would be literary names. I love the name Emma, and if I were to use it, I wouldn't use any other Jane Austen name, just because I wouldn't want to get into a theme.
