names in this article about shopping cart dangers... just thought there were several unusual names in one article, which was a bit odd.

really? i've heard that one, but i've NEVER heard deonte before.

i guess i should've clarified i don't think the mom's names are unusual, just the kids. but i threw the mom's in there just cause they were there.

I think Deonte is an African-American name. My mom worked at a predominately black school so that might be why I recognized it.

Ah, ok. I've lived mostly in Utah and Arizona, so the majority of the populations in both places are white and hispanic. That may explain why I've never heard of it. I really like it though. Would it be weird for a white kid to be named that?

www.behindthename.com says it's a combo of Deon (Dion) and Dante so I don't see a problem with it.
