Hey guys!

I recently found out I was pregnant, and don't know the sex of the baby yet, but, I wanted to run some baby names by you guys to see what you think. When I was younger I had always liked the names, Lola, Arianna, Helena, Olivia, Tracey, and Georgia. I don't really know what to say now, I'm still a little fond of them I guess :). I'm an irish canadian and my name is Kaeli and I've always liked irish names, and also french. I like the name Brielle which is french but haven't really though of any irish ones.

For a boy my husband and I have run by names like James, Aiden, but we pretty much stopped, we honestly can't think of any boy names. I like the nickname Finn, but I'm not really liking the full name for it. Does anyone have any ideas ?

I love the names Olivia, Lola and Georgia. Brielle is cute too.

I am not so fond of James or Aidan.

The only name I can think of for Finn is Finley..

Go to www.behindthename.com. It gives you names of all different ethnicities broken down. If you decide you want Irish you can just browse through those names. You can also add names along the way to a list then go back later and compare them.

I like Arianna and Olivia, and Brielle.

I like your boy's names, and I think Finn is a cute name by itself, not being short for anything.

Lola is vying with Isabella for the #1 spot on my list. :) I like Olivia and Georgia, too, as well as James and Aidan. Brielle is lovely as well.

There's a list of Irish names here (http://www.babynamenetwork.com/baby_names/origins/Irish_baby_names.cfm), and a list of French names here (http://www.babynamenetwork.com/baby_names/origins/French_baby_names.cfm), if you're interested.

I love James and Arianna.
The rest are either NMS or I don't like.

As far as Finn...all I can think of is Finnius. (blech)
Aiden is extremly popular now, but if you really like the name thats no reason not to use it...but be prepared to write out your child's last name or at least last initial on everything.

congratulations on your pregnancy!

i went to a french school and have loads of friends in paris still. also, my ex is french so i've researched my share of french names, hehe. anyway, here are a few popular ones that you might like:
girls:
anais
anaelle
amelie
maelle
oceane
solene
valentine
clara/elisa/lila/lola (not particularly french but quite common there)

boys:
maxime/maxence
mathis
axel
yanis
louis
loan
julien
mateo/enzo are popular at the moment.

my irish friend's kids are called caelan (kee-lan) and naoise (nee-sha) which i think are both really cute. i don't many other irish names! i knew a finn who was half irish/english and his name wasn't short for anything.

i don't like the name tracey but all of your other names are pretty. i don't actually know any french brielles but it is cute even if slightly nickname-ish to me- i keep thinking it should be short for gabrielle.

hmmm...im butting in on your comment here (sorry) but how is maxence pronounced? max is our number one boys name, but we dont like maximilian (huge construction company where we live), maxim (yuck magazine), maddox (too angelina worship for me, otherwise i would think it was cute), or maxwell (its okay really) so we may end up going with just plain old max, but this intrigued me. so, how would it be pronounced?

hey, i love the name max! umm...it's kinda hard to explain how maxence would be pronounced in english. can i call you and say it? haha, no really, it's sort of like max-on-ce, but you don't really stress the n from ON. so it would probably sound more like max-oh-ce when said quickly. i think it's cute. i like maxwell as well.

My brother is Max, i call him Maximus because out of habit I like to shorten names affectionatly.... Max, being one syllable is impossible to shorten so i took to lengthening it!
Maxim is pronounced Max-eem, unlike the magazine. I think it's gorgeous. (possibly because i fell in love with a French Maxim whilst on holiday, and only arrived back today lol. I have a serious case of the holiday blues!)

Congrats :)
I think Finn can stand alone perfectly well [worked for Fionn Mac Cool]. Trust me there are more than enough Aidens in the world, James is common too but more classic.

Finlay and Finnegan are two options for Finn. I wouldn't go with Aidan myself - it's super super popular right now.

Everyone says how popular Aidan is but no one wants to seem to notice that Olivia is something like #4 most popular name for girls right now?? Please don't go with Olivia or Aiden unless you want them to be one of the dozens in their class.

I like Helena and Georgia, and I like Finn. Who's to stop you from using just Finn? It shouldn't have to be just a nickname if you really love it. :)

Finnbar (or Finbar) is another full name for Finn. A good one, I think.

i like helena, lola, olivia and georgia. tracey is dated, and arianna is good on anyone under the age of three. but i cant see an adult woman named arianna, its just too little girl for me.

james is always a nice, classic name, and i love the nickname jamie (if you must use a nickname, much better than jim/jimmy/etc). aiden is nice, i used to like it before the whole jaden/caden/brayden/shayden craze happened. now...not so much.

also just wanted to second the behindthename.com mention where you can search by culture, or by almost anything really.

good luck. :)

I love Finn just by itself, but Finley/Findlay is cute. I also like Olivia and James! Aidan is pretty popular and I think Tracey sounds a bit dated.

How are you pronouncing Helena? It's high up on my list, but I hate all other pronunciations besides 'He-LAY-na', and sadly, it gets said the other ways far too often.

Lola- Love
Arianna- Not much of a fan, reminds me of arachnid.. im scared of spiders.
Helena- I hate this, and Helen.
Olivia- Beautiful, popular but i love the nn Liv. I'm a fan of lots of shakespearean names.
Tracey- urgh no no. trashy 80's
Georgia- It's okay.
Brielle- it's alright. I love Brie, the cheese... hmm.. i've always liked Ariel/Arielle.

James is nice & classic. Aiden is hugely trendy.
