Finally decided on a name... thoughts?
A challenge for all you fellow name-a-holics!!!
Alright, I have been following the baby name forum closely since day one of this pregnancy (just like my last two) and I am happy to say we may have finally found a name my hubby and I both agree on. We found out last week that it is a boy and we always have a terrible time deciding on a boy name. This is our fourth and our first three are named as follows:
Micah Venis (middle is hubby's middle name)
Allison Snow (middle is my mom's maiden name)
and Noah Grey (middle just sounded awesome)
So, we have been trying to find another Bible name that we agree on, (actually hubby says it doesn't have to be a Bible name just because the other two boys are but I hesitate to break the theme even though our daughter's name isn't biblical... that is because there are only about 10 girl names to the 500 boy names in the Bible)
Anyway, there is this name that has come up every time we have discussed names in the past. The fact is, people generally dislike the name but I can't help it, I love it. Now hubby is on board too, so I think we are going to use it this time. I am interested in hearing your opinions and hoping someone out there will have something encouraging to say about it.
Also, (this is the challenge part)we are trying to find a good middle name that goes well with it and our last name.(our last name is three syllables and starts with 'Mc' and ends with a 'en' sound if that helps any) and we also want the middle name to be a bit masculine sounding to help the first name sound less nerdy and would like it to mesh well with the other kids middles and not use the same middle initial as they do. (a lot to ask of a middle name, I know, but we are optimistic! lol)
So here is the first name.... drum roll please.... Linus!!!
(oh and yes, it is indeed a Bible name though most people seem suprised by this)
The only middles we like so far are...
Benjamin (but it doesn't seem much like the other kids middles)
Joel (I'm not sold on it but hubby likes the sound)
I'm counting on you guys since we never share our baby names with family or friends until the baby arrives. (that way it's too late for them to complain!) I highly suggest this btw, the one time we didn't do it was a disaster and we ended up changing the name because of it.
ps The middle doesn't have to be Bible... in fact, a place name or object name would be more in fitting with the others.

I don't know if Linus quite flows with your other kids' names though. Micah, Allison and Noah are all kind of softer sounding, and Linus sounds a bit harsh compared to those ones. I like Linus overall though.

Linus Archer? Erm...I'll have to think on the middle name thing.

If your last name is 3 syllables, it sounds best rhythmically if the middle name is one syllable, I think. Here are some suggestions:
Linus John
Linus Clark
Linus Penn
Linus Pierce
Linus Blake
Linus Brice
Linus Reed
Linus Quinn
Good luck and congrats! :)

Haha, me too. I want to do a rewatch, but I'm waiting until I finally get over the ending. I probably won't rewatch S6 though.

Linus Skye (I know you said no matching middle initials but it was hard to avoid using!)
Linus Hudson
Linus Stone
Linus Miller
Linus Austin
Linus Ash
That's all I could think of off the top of my head. That's a tall order, but I'm sure you will find a good fit! Keep us posted on what you decide!

I like Stone alot. I have suggested it a couple of times but I don't know why, I guess cause I prefer an object name and a one syllable name and it sounds manly!
Thanks!

I prefer Linus Joel to Linus Benjamin. I agree with whoever said Benjamin Linus sounds better than Linus Benjamin. I think to go with your other kids though, something like Linus Stone or Linus River or something.

no, seriously, reading through all that, building up the anticipation, the drumroll, everything, only to see... my favoritest name ever, was so worth it.
I have a son named Linus, I named him like 7 years before I had him, lol. he is 6 years old.
his middle name is Christopher, but that probably doesn't help you since that is my husband's first name.
