Lydia

hubby has a friend named Lydia(not a close friend and we hardly ever see her), so I don't know if it would be weird to use it but I like it a lot.

Lydia is my favorite girl's name ever. I don't think it would be too weird if you used it, since the friend isn't that close of a friend. If you saw her all the time, that might make it weird.

I used to really like it. I don't love it as much anymore, but I still think it's a great name. I think part of why it slipped down on my own personal chart was because it sounds pretty formal and has no apparent nickname to make it a little less so from time to time. Maybe Dia could work, but I'm not sold on it. Anyway, it's definitely a name that I'd love to see other people use!

I think you could spell it Liddy too and get away with it--that's cute.

Dee is nice too.

I had a friend called Lydia and we called her that! Also.... Beetlejuice's Lydia often went by Liddy in the animated tv show.

I love it! I think it's classic and different enough to stand out.

A lot of people seem to like it, but I just can't get on board with it.

This x's 10000. Plus, it always has reminded me of the word "labia."

I like it a lot, too. It's been climbing steadily in my list of names ;).

it's very pretty, but i'd never use it. (i used it for a character in a project a few years back; she was a serial killer, lol. if you're looking for nicknames, though, her father called her "d")

It's fine.

We like a lot of classic names and a lot of them pop up in our group of friends. We had David picked out for our first baby (had a girl) and we actually have a very lose friend named David and a few less close friends with the same name... didn't even occur to me to that it might be an issue. One of our favorite girls' names was the name of one of my husband's girlfriends. "David's" middle name would've been the name of two of my exes, on of our good friends, and my brother's middle name.

I adore that name. I think I first started liking it when I read Lyddie for the first time.

Speaking of nicknames, I know someone online who goes by the nickname Lidi, and I once had a character who I had named Lydia, and I was going to nickname her Lids, but then decided that was a weird nickname, but then it caught on around that time for a professional athlete (completely unrealted to my character, of course).
