I've been thinking about naming tradtions/trends lately... and in my family there really isnt any.

For awhile on my dad's side what they did with baby boys was give them a name, of their own, then for middle names they would have their father's and paternal grandfather's name so there's:
Ryan John Gerritt
Jason Peter Gerritt
Derek John Bernard
and after that the trend sorta died but it was almost revived with my little cousin who was named William Gerritt (after both the grandfathers)

My mom sort of did the same thing with me: i was named Jennifer after my Grandmother (Jenny-her original dutch name was Jantje) and then she wanted to name me after herself but 'Jennifer Joanne' doesnt have a nice ring to it so she kep the 'anne' and Jennifer Rose-Anne I became.

In my friend's family her parents gave both their kids the same initials as they have, so the parents names are June and Edward (Ted)  and then they gave the kids their middle names so they are Jennifer Mary and Eric Wade.

What are some naming tradtions your family has?

My family has too many diverse cultures and not enough children for their to be much of a naming trend or tradition. My husband's middle is his dad's middle name, though, and my FIL's mn is his dad's mn. I don't know how far back it goes, but Chris is stuck on it, so Christopher is the future mn of our first boy, if we have a boy. If we don't I wonder if he'll insist on Christina or something. Actually he'll probably insist on Rose, my name. That's ok with me, since my #1 right now is Susanna.

Susanna Rose sounds very pretty but is it redundant? I think that Susanna might mean rose or lily
