I think it's pretty and still unusual enough (despite Rumer Willis, Rumer Godden, and the singer whose surname I don't know). Hubby thinks it sounds too much like 'rumour', though, which I guess he has a point about.

I think of Rumer Willis straight away and it sounds exactly like rumor, at least how I've always heard it. I don't like it.

It sounds exactly like 'rumour', lol, I was pretty sure it was just a misspelled version of it, while meaning to be the same word.

I honestly don't hate it. I think Bruce/Demi had decent taste in their kid's names; some people definitely do dislike it a lot, and I might not jump at the chance to use it, but I like it.

I like it: problem is I think it's a very adult name, a bit tough on a child (OTOH, they will be adult for waaayyy longer than child :) It would make a good second name, and she could always change to using it if she wanted when she is older...

Agreeing with all the comments that it sounds exactly like rumour. I don't like using random nouns as names particularly anyway, not even traditional ones like flower names, but I always think that if you are set on it you should at least spell it right.

It is actually an old English name, meaning fame. So, while it has the same root as the noun rumour, it is not just a mis-spelled version - I don't do mis-spelled names :P It seems like the association is unavoidable, though. Oh well!
