I'm currently in a French immersion program, and there are our older professors, but there are also the younger people to lead us around on our cultural activities, and such. These people are all Quebecois French, minus one girl who is from Algeria, and their ages range from 19-50, but most of them are in their early twenties.

I personally just adore the French language and also French names, so I get them not being everybody's idea of a good time, but WDYT?

Everyone does that. My sister hates it but she stopped trying to make her co-workers call her either Véronique or Nicky - it's just impossible. I think only her flatmate and I call her Nicky, and our parents and other family members call her Véronique.
