Snow

I got married on July 27th and my name is now Gazelle Snow. Maybe it's because I'm not used to it, or something, but I don't like the way it sounds. I always thought my fiance's last name was very nice, but I guess I never said my name with his over enough in my head to get the feel of it. My last name before I married was Holland.

I'm also pregnant, due in March, and a little down because most of my favorite names don't sound very good with my new last name.

I have really gotten into mythological names lately, and my favorite, Alecto would sound terrible with Snow.

When I look through baby name books and websites, I get frustrated because I like a lot of one-syllable names, and stuff that just sounds plain wrong with this new name. I sometimes just want to give the baby the last name Holland. ^.^ Boo.

I just loved Alecto. *sigh*

Can you think of any names that might sound good with Snow?

i personally think a lot of names would sound nice with snow. thats a middle name we are considering using. it would just have to be a longer first name. all the elisabeth/catherine type names sound great, as does oliver (thats what was going to be the first with snow as middle, but it has since changed)

have you considered hyphenating? holland-snow? theyre both short, simple names so it would work nicely, imo.

Snow is a very beautiful, poetic sounding last name. It goes nicely with many things. I don't really like it when last names and first names are both one syllable...but it's not the end of the world, and you could still have a name like Kate Snow, it's not that bad really.

I agree with the other commenter who said that Holland-Snow is not bad. I normally don't like hyphenated names but every now and then, I hear one that sounds good. Holland-Snow is one of them. But if you just stick with Snow, that would be fine too - I can't really think of anything bad with Snow.. what's wrong with Alecto Snow?

I'm sure you'll feel better soon.. it's very common to feel suddenly depressed when you're going through so much change in your life but I'm sure it won't be long until you're used to everything that's happened!

Hmm... it doesn't bother me that much. I think it's because the "o" sound in the first word is not a stressed syllable. It would bother me if it was a name like Zoe Snow... but Alecto doesn't... if that makes sense!

But I don't actually like the name Alecto, mostly because it reminds me of certain other people's names...

really? Zoe Snow would bother me a lot less than Alecto Snow, which I think sounds awful together...

Wow, most of those names sound awesome with snow, even names I don't normally like!

No offense, but I don't like Alecto at all with anything, lol.

Congrats, though! I have to say I love your new name! ;) It *did* make me think of Chrissy Snow from Three's Company, though.

I think you just pretty much have to stay away from any puns or cute jokes if you don't like that kind of thing.

Yeah I agree, the only names to really avoid would be names like Summer, or most nature names prboably

Her full name was Christmas Snow. I think her middle name might have been Noelle, too. LOL

my maiden name, Mitchell, went with just about everything, except Michael and Michelle. my married name, Paulson, automatically rules out TONS of names I like because they end in N. i refuse to name a rhyming name. here are some i liked but can't use:
Jarron, Ethan, Vaughn, Aaron, Reuben, Toben, Jackson, Devon, Lauren, etc. Basically all the boy's names (and a couple girls names) I like at all end in N.
so, I know the disappointed feeling. However, I think Snow is quite workable. it might take some getting used to. Holland would be a great middle name, if you don't want to use a hypenated last name.

Felicity Snow.
..Sorry can't think of any good Snow names at the moment.

haha, yay! My name is Holland!

The name Snow makes me think of Three's Company. Suzanne Sommers played Chrissy (short for Christmas) Snow.

Anyway- I have the same problem. My last name right now is Borden and that goes with TONS of names. But when I get married my last name will be Sink and I just don't think that last name sounds very good with many names. Its irritating, but what can you do, you know?

A lot of longer names sound great with snow :)

I agree that Alecto Snow doesn't sound great. What about something like Alexa?

I would love to hear some of the mythological names you like :)
I'm still debating on a boys name!
