Not a huge fan of any version of Kaelynn but I love, love, LOVE Gabrielle.:) And I don't really care if middle names flow well with the first, but it does. I do think you should go with Gabrielle though!(Are you pregnant?)
No, not preggo but we are probably going to be trying for #2 in the fall. I don't want Gabrielle as the first name as it's my longest running best friend's first name. And I love Kaelynn/any spelling and have for months now. :)
I don't think the spelling is technically a name. I like Kahlan right, like the pronunciation from Legend of the Seeker, but someone once said it's supposed to be pronounced like Colin when spelt that way..
Yeah, we also want to start trying as soon as I can get some money coming in (so I can get mat leave down the road.) I already have my names picked out but I'm not going to post them here because I don't want to know people's opinion of it, lol. If you like Kaelynn, then go for it. There's always going to be people that love or hate the name you pick out, that's the way I look at it.
? yes, well, as I said. It's spelt Kahlan in the show/books, but pronounced like Kay-lynn. But someone from before, here, said it wasn't actually pronounced that way. So do you like Kahlan because of the spelling better or how it's pronounced? Correctly or Like the show?
Yeah, I know, the last time I posted about Kaelynn people were all "ugh that's terrible" or "that's not even a name" or "that's not how you even pronounce it!"
I'm going to go with the writer is not gaelic or irish or something and didn't realize that he was doing it wrong. HA HA And Legend of the Seeker is an acquired taste show wise.
I think if a writer is going to take the time to write a show and name a character, they should like... look the name up or something. I'm not going to name someone "Boob" and then insist it's pronounced "Bob"
I think Kaelynn is more modern and Gabrielle is more classic. Balancing the two may not be a bad idea, because there's more sides to the name, or it might, if you want more coherence within the name.
I like them. My daughter is named Kaelin Annabel, which is similar. I love mixing name styles.
Truthfully, though, even if everyone in the world thinks it sucks together and is controversial it is really all about what the parents think of the names. If you love it, you love it!
With my son, I had the name Kaelyn on my list of girl names. I like it spelled most ways: Kaelyn, Kaelin, Kailin, Kailyn, Kaylin, Kaylen... but I'm not a huge fan of the -lynn (double N) endings for some reason.

Date: 2011-07-21 09:20 pm (UTC)what about kaylynn? i always misread kaelynn as katelynn, but i usually don't make that mistake with the cay-/kay- beginning.
