Natalie Portman's baby's name is Aleph.

It's the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, and its esoteric meaning in Judaic Kabbalah, as denoted in the theological treaty Sefer-ha-Bahir, relates to the origin of the universe, the "primordial one that contains all numbers." [1]

I think it's quite nice, actually—I'm just not used to it. WDYT?

I was king of hoping she'd go with Arthur, after her grandfather. But there is definitely a trend among young American Jews to name a child after the grandparent, but modernize the Hebrew. So, I like it, it is a gutsy choice!
