[identity profile] how-obscure.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Okay, so the holiday weekend distracted me from posting a follow up to my list of graduates from my alumni magazine. Here are the birth announcements from the magazine.

(Josh, Colby) - no newborn, just children mentioned
Kennedy Marissa
Gabriel (Carlyn, Nathan)
Callette (Lyla)
Barron Carl
Henry Lukas

One of the parents is named Braxton. I found that interesting because the name wouldn't stand out in today's birth announcements, but those sort of names wouldn't have been trending so much when he would have been born.

I overheard a woman call for her daughter Gemini in a bookstore last week. While it's not something I would use, I think it can work as a name. It definitely works better than some of the zodiac signs would.

I was looking to buy a new phone recently and the young woman who helped me was named Jazmane. I kept wondering if it was said "jazz-mane" or if it was still passed off as Jasmine, but I never did ask.

Gemini is really interesting. I could picture a girl in a science fiction novel with that name! Alternatively, one could use it in real life with the nickname Gemma.

I had a student named Braxton a few years back. When I told my mom all she could do was laugh and ask if his last name was Hicks.
