[identity profile] maedayparade.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I just found out I'm pregnant and due February 22, 2012. Here's a list of names I'm considering for both boys and girls. They're in no particular order, and ones with special meanings to me I've labeled. His/her older brother's name is Lucien Robert Rhys, could kick myself for not spelling it Lucian, as that's how we pronounce it, not Lu-ci-en. Would love as much feedback as possible!

I think I would love you if you used DeForest. I'm sure a lot of people would back away from it, because of deforestation, but it's so cool.

I like Jesse, and Caleb for boys. Scarlett and Olivia for girls. I do dislike Love and Angel though, but quite like Amore.

Georgia Garnet Bailey - I like Georgia and Garnet a lot actually... not so big on Bailey and not sure about Georgia and Garnet together
June - Love the nn June but kind of odd regarding the conception part, Juniper is a great full name IMO for nn June
Jasey Rae - Jasey is super trendy and ugly IMO
Emerie Rachel Dawn - I do not like Emerie... looks trendy and made up Emery would be better but I still think it's masculine
Renee - It's ok... kind of "filler" middle name to me
Lee - I prefer it for a boy as a nn for Leland
Marlee - Ok, I hate this name, I hate to sound like a bitch but my BIL and SIL are naming their daughter Marley and it's so masculine and sounds like a dogs name PLUS the Bob Marley reference isn't that great to me
Carlee - I'm not a fan of making names... I like Carly as a nn to Caroline
Elliott - Prefer it for a boy but I've seen it used on girls recently
Angel/Angelina - Not a fan
Jane - Classic... nice
Crystal - Sounds "stripper-ish" to me
Willow - I love Willow
Olivia - Nice but super popular right now... Olive is a nice alternative
Seraphine/Seraphina - It's ok... kind of pretentious but I like it enough
Lyric - Hate it
Violet - Pretty
Rose - Love it
Love - Corny IMO
Amore - Corny again
Josephine- LOVEEEEE (my fav of your list)
Jade - It's ok
Elise - Nice
Charlotte - Great
Zoe - It's ok IMO
Isabel - too popular right now--I like Isadora as a similar alternative
Rosealie/Roselee - I hate these spellings but Rosalie is CUTE!
Lily - Too popular again... better as a nn for Lilith or Lilian
Alice/Allison - I like Alice and I prefer Alison
Ripley - Hatttte it
Scarlet/Scarlett - I like Scarlett a lot
Dinah - Not a fan
Melody - Not a fan
Harmony - Not a fan

DeForest Joseph Elliott - I like Joseph and Elliot enough but DeForest is a town around me and I'm not a big fan of it
Elliott - Like it
David - Classic... nice
Jesse - Seems incomplete
Michael - Nice enough
Mason - Pretty nice... kinda popular right now though
Phoenix - I'm not a huge fan of this... kinda cool sounding though
River - Too "hippy" to me
Julien- I like Julian A LOT, not Julien
Marcus - Nice
Eli - Prefer it as a nn for Elias
Vincent - It's ok
Vincent Valentine - Not a fan
Jacob/Jakob - It's ok
Henry - LOOOOOVE IT
Harrison - It's ok
Alexander - Very nice
Hunter - Not a fan
Archer - I really, REALLY like Archer
Sam - I like Samuel
Chance - I don't like that association and not a fan of the name anyway
Jared - I have bad associations
Caleb - I hate it

I really like your son's name! Although, I'm with you on prefering the Lucian spelling. The ones on the "I like" lists are ones I like enough to have on my own list, for the most part. That means you'll find names with positive comments in the other sections, as well as negative.

I like:
June
Jane
Willow
Lyric
Josephine
Elise
Charlotte
Alice

Georgia Garnet Bailey - Georgia is okay. Garnet is fine as a middle name and it has a really sweet meaning, but I would hesitate to pair Georgia and Garnet together because then it sounds like a Garnet from Georgia. Bailey sounds like a dogs name to me, but it is a also a surname and I don't have a problem with family surnames being used on girls, especially in the middle. I know this isn't a family name, but as it is in the middle, I guess I don't hate it.
Jasey Rae - This sounds trashy and trendy. Sorry! Maybe use just part of the name or use it in the middle slots? Ex. Ella Jasey Rae, Ella Jacey Dawn, Ella Josephine Rae
Emerie Rachel Dawn - I don't like male names on females or misspellings so Emerie is definitely a no for me. Why not use Emory on a boy? Rachel and Dawn are fine, just not my style.
Renee - Just not my style
Lee - See above. Also, if someone does use Lee on a girl, I prefer to see Leigh, but as this is a family name, it gets a pass.
Marlee - I see what you're doing with combining names, and I get it, I do, but Marley is the proper spelling. This name also reminds me of a dog (see movie Marley & Me) and Bob Marley, the latter of which makes it seem more masculine to me.
Carlee - Why not Carly? It still sounds like Carl+Lee.
Elliott - I prefer Elliott on boys.
Angel/Angelina - Angel doesn't seem like it would age well. It's also too...sweet of a name or something; it seems the same as naming your child Precious or Princess. Angelina is fine, just not to my personal taste.
Crystal- It's okay, especially as a middle. Again, just not to my taste, although I really liked it in 9th grade.
Olivia - Classic but not one I care for personally. Also, if you're in the US, it is currently ranked #4, which is something to keep in mind.
Seraphine/Seraphina - Just not my style, but I do like the nn Sera.
Violet - I just don't like the sound of it.
Rose - fine
Love - Way to cutesy for a first name, but it could maybe pass as a middle name.
Amore - Really not a fan. I don't care for the sound or look of it.
Zoe - Nice enough, just not one of my personal faves.
Isabel - I prefer this spelling or Isobel, but it's not a name I'm particularly partial to. Also, Isabella is ranked #1. Between all of the girls named Isabella/Isabelle/Isabel/Isobel, etc. that's a lot of Izzys and Bellas running around.
Rosealie/Roselee - Rosealie looks really bad and causes some confusion with pronunciation. Roselee reminds me of Gypsy Rose Lee.
Lily - fine
Allison - nice enough
Ripley - Part of me thinks this is really cool, but another part of me doesn't think it is the best idea.
Scarlet/Scarlett - It reminds me of scarlet fever. :\
Dinah - I kind of like this one. In fact, I almost put it on the "like" list, but I started thinking how it could be misheard as "diner" with an accent and I started wavering on it.
Melody - Not my personal taste, but it's kind of nice.
Harmony - I like it in theory, but I don't like that it contains the word "harm." What about Hermione? It has a similar sound and goes well with Lucien's name.

I...exceeded the comment character limit. O_o

I like:
River
Harrison

DeForest Joseph Elliott - While I dig the Star Trek connection, I just can't get behind DeForest. It sounds like deforest and if it gets shortened to Forest, all I can think of is Forrest Gump. Joseph and Elliott are fine though.
Elliott - Glad to see it on the boy's list.
David - Solid, traditional name
Jesse - kind of like it.
Michael - anoher classic
Mason - This name makes me think of rich, pretentious people for some reason.
Phoenix - It's kind of cool, but I'm just not sure about giving it to a kid in real life.
Julien- I like Julian. Julien just looks weird to me for some reason.
Marcus - Not bad.
Eli - seems incomplete to me.
Vincent - I've never liked this name. It was the name of a bad guy on a show I watched as a child. I also don't care for the sound of it.
Vincent Valentine - That said, Vincent Valentine isn't a bad combination. I kind of like Valentine as a middle name.
Jacob/Jakob - Prefer Jacob. I used to really like it, but it's lost its shine. You may want to keep in mind that it is ranked #1, if you're in the US.
Henry - It's a nice name.
Alexander - Classic
Hunter - I've never really cared for this one.
Archer - I don't like it, but I can't quite articulate why.
Sam - Sam is a good name. My friends just named their baby Samuel, which is a fine name. Sampson is good too; it has character.
Chance - Another name that makes me think of dogs. Sorry!
Jared - I just don't like the sound of it.
Caleb - This name is nice enough. In fact, I used to really like it back in high school.
