Date: 2011-06-17 11:44 am (UTC)Aaron: a-ron (short a, like in apple)
Aine: if I saw it, I'd probably pronounce it ein (like the German word), but I know it's Celtic, so I'm bound to be completely wrong
Alasdair: al-las-tah
Anais: a-na-ees
Asha: ah-sha
Clea: clay-ah
Caroline: ca-ro-line
Esme: es-may
Eva: ee-va
Genevieve: gen-neh-veev
Graham: gray-ham (it's sort of a light H sound, like when it's said it all sort of blends, if that makes sense)
Helena: he-lay-nah
Imogen: im-o-gen
Joaquin: wah-keen
Louis: lou-iss
Lucia: loo-sha
Megan: mee-gan (meg-gan if it was spelt Meghan)

Date: 2011-06-18 11:57 am (UTC)I had no idea about Aine, so that's why I went with what I did. I know it's one of those names that isn't pronounced anything like it looks (like Siobhan, for example). Helena I moved between he-lay-na and your pronunciation, and the he-lay-na pronunciation rolled off my tongue a little better. But I pronounce Elena el-en-ah, so go figure.
And that's totally how I pronounce Graham. I know how it sounds in my head, but figuring out the best way to phonetically spell it can be tricky. That em was what I meant about the ay and the ham kind of blending, so it sounds like you're pronouncing the H but in a way you're not... I'm rambling. :)
