The interpreter assigned to the court I was in yesterday was named Lyda (LEE-da)

Came across a boy named Elexzander. Now, when I was in high school and we had to read Tom Sawyer I remember Tom using the name Elexander (writing in the vernacular) I kind of dug that spelling in a ooo I'm a creative teen kind of way.

Other children - Sir Hart, Heavenly White, Nunno, and from our employ phone list....Will Ma

I could maybe get behind Elexander (maybe, maybe), but definitely not with the 'z' thrown in. Lyda looks like Lydia with a typo and made me want to say it "lid-uh". I don't like it either way. The rest are just awful.

Well, actually, I've got to put a disclaimer for Will Ma. It may not be awful, just an unfortunate happenstance. He could be a first generation American with Asian parents. It's not uncommon, I believe, for parents in that situation to give an English name and a Korean/Chinese/Vietnamese, etc. name. Ma could be a name to reflect the culture, and they may not have known Wilma is a female name since it isn't commonly used.

I prefer Leta (to Lyda) which sounds pretty dang similar.
