Veda met her uncle yesterday, my brother in law.
He thought she needed a nickname.

Much to my displeasure, he has been calling her Darth (aka Darth Vader!)

I honestly did not even think that Veda would have nickname problems! =[

Have any of you guys had any nicknaming woes?

I think that's adorable. At least he's not calling her "my girl".

Aw, I think it's cute!

My family and I went to see The Three Musketeers play a few months ago. My dad and husband made up the name "Darthvadian" after the character d'Artagnan since they sound alike. I think it was kind of funny.

I would LOVE for someone to call my kid Vader!! But really... ALL names have nicknames issues ALL OF THEM. I'm named Monica and I had a LOVELY time when the Monica Lewinsky thing... so even if she doesn't have an issue now SOMEONE SOMEWHERE will make something up. Humans are creative that way. And dude... it's VADER!

Oh, ew! It's so dorky! Vader would be funnier...

Hopefully she gives him an equally weird nn when she starts talking.

Darth Vader seems like a cute nickname to me.

One of my favorite teachers in high school turned my maiden name (Samantha Oakes) into Salami Oaktree. That was the only unusual nickname I've ever gotten. Usually it's just Sam or Sami.

I actually think that's cute! I don't have any nickname woes, but my mother had nickname woes all the time with the horrendous nicknames my sister and I had for each other over the years. About twenty years ago, we went from "you fool" to just "foo", and we still call each other that today. My mother finds it irritating! But you never know what kinds of random things people will end up calling your kid, no matter what their name is. :)

my kid had a teacher who insisted on calling her "Bailey Rock" (her name is Haley Stone)...she hated it, told him so, and he continued to do it. He thought he was clever and funny, she thought he was a moron.

with the last name Stone both my kids have had teammates call them "Stoner" which I am not particularly enamored of.

Darth... love it!
My oldest daughter Sabrina was nicknamed Xena by her Grandpa. I never took to it.

Aww. I never would have thought of that as a nickname for Veda (not a Star Wars fan). & Veda is my favorite girl name! Like others have already said people will find a way to make fun of EVERY name. My first name starts with J & my last name starts with Az... I had a teacher that called me Jazzy in highschool (which was my dogs names -_-).

My friend Diyanna has an old long standing nickname of Yaya from her siblings, left over from when they couldn't say Diyanna correctly.

She is not amused.
