driving by a house yesterday I noticed two huge wooden storks out, indicating twins were born. I slowed down to read the names and I wish I could say I was joking:

Leo Martin
Liam Joseph.

I mean, either is fine by itself, but together???

I don't see anything wrong with those together. Am I missing something?

I think it's because they sound SO MUCH alike... which they ind of do... but they are surely NOT bad. I've see WAY worse.

Hm, I guess. I always want to pronounce Liam with a long I, so I suppose that's why I didn't see the problem.

Leo Martin runs together to make the first part sound like Liam, but my issue with it is more that Leo and Liam are way too matchy/similar for siblings. I guess at least they have their middle names to fall back on!

I actually applaud the parents for something normal LOL! Not the best together, but really, they could be so much worse!

I don't know why you'd do this to yourself, as a parent. Every time you yell one name, they'll both come running. Hell, my name is Quinn and my brother's name is Kieran and even those two sometimes sound alike enough to get us both to respond to each other's names.

Agreed.
My parents call me Corey and my sister Carrie (we're Courtney and Carina) and definitely had issues with calling out to only one or the other of us

It's not terrible, but I don't know why you'd do that to yourself as a parent. I work with kids, and I'm always tripping over the kids with similar names.

I've always noticed how parents with twins often choose names that sound similar/look similar/rhyme.

Each to their own, but I'm sure if I ever ended up having twins, I'd want them to sound completely different, as much as possible, not only for convenience, but also for them, especially when they're older and want to be noticed that they're different people.

What's nice is I've known a fair number of twins with non-matchy names:
Daniel & Eric, Morgan(f) & Lacey, James & Katie, Alexander & Nathaniel, Kyle & Eric, Jessica & Hannah...

The few *twins* I've known with matchy names, their whole family has them: Alyson & Ashley (brother Anthony); Jessica & Jeanelle (brother James, sisters... I think were Jamila and Jolene?); Candi & Christi (sisters Carri and Cimberlie- which is supposedly Kimberly)

The problem in my mind, is not with the set of names sounding matchy, but with the sound being so similar I predict LOTS of confusion. I mean, most parents mix names up even when they're really different. With the same first syllable, there will be lots of pauses after the "lee" sound while mom or dad figures out which one they're trying to say.
