Unusual name

I just opened a home daycare and my first "client" is a little boy named Mali. His parents are French, but so am I and I've never heard the name. All the research I've done seem to indicate it's a girl's name, a form of Molly I believe. Anyway, I think it's cute and definitely original. WDYT?

One of my kids at my daycare is Malachi and his mom calls him Mali. Probably not the same though haha

I would definitely not guess that it's supposed to be a boy's name. =\

NMS but it's not bad. I think that people will, however, assume it's "Molly" and get really confused!

We're all French so there's no Molly confusion when we pronounce it, Mah-li. But, yeah, I'm sure when pronounced in English it'll possibly get confused for Molly.

I saw it and read "Mal-ee" (Mal, like Al). Are you pronouncing it "Mall-ee" (Mall, like a mall)?

We pronounced it in French, "Mah-lee."
