I was super curious how people would pronounce #1 because there is a boy in my son's class with it... and they say it like "Ryan." And it blows my mind everytime I see it written, and then said outloud lol.
I agree, but I'd never damn my daughter to a lifetime of explaining the spelling/pronunciation over and over again, nor would I ever want to dumb down the awesome spelling. But it's such a great name.
I've been asked how my name is pronounced all my life, and I really don't mind! Nonetheless, I can understand your concern =) *fixed for ridiculous grammar mistake.

I was curious how people would pronounce #1 because there is a boy in my son's class with it... and they say it like "Ryan." I ALWAYS want to say it like that "Ray-in."
I didn't even think about saying it like "rain"... a boy in my son's class has the name and it's said "Ryan", which confuses me because of the spelling. But there are a ton of names that the spelling/pronunciation don't match up (like Saoirse, for instance).
LOL yes, I think 1 is a funny spelling of it... that's how my son's classmate says it, like "Ryan." I Googled and found it is a French male name, but they had no pronunciation guide. They did say it rhymes with Cheyane... so I was thinking that it was Ry-Ane... but still uber confusing since they definitely say it "Ryan".
1) Ray-anne 2) Icy 3) Not even trying... 4) Sailin' 5) Gen-eh-VEEV (I know sb with this name, though) 6) ah-NAY 7) AY-us
And they're probably all wrong, except for the 5th one! (By which I mean, it's an accepted way of saying it. I know it's French, and I'm saying it with an American tongue.)
one. Ray-an two. NFI... three. Seer-shuh four. See-Lin five. in English I wound say Jenna-veve, in French I would say Jhon-vee-ev six. An-ay seven. Eye-iss
I am going to say right off the bat that this is just how I said them when I read them out loud, and I usually VERY bad at intuiting Gaelic names - so I am fairly certain they aren't "right" but this is what I say:
1) Rayane - Ray-Ann, or maybe Ray-Ann-nee
2) Isyce - Isis (although I want to say Eye-Sice, I felt like they were going for Isis)
3) Saoirse - Seer-sha. But I want to read it Say-or-see
4) Celyn - Sell-In, or Kell-In. I would say Cell-In first but wouldn't be fazed it it were actually a hard C.
1. ray-ane (so it rhymes with jane) 2. ice-iss (like isis) 3. say-orse (rhymes with horse) 4. sell-lynn 5. jenn-uh-veev 6. uh-nay 7. eye-iss (like isis without the first s)
