Arlo vs. Harvey
Apr. 25th, 2011 05:33 pmQuick recap in case you don't already know my story: Husband and I are having baby #2, I'm due on May 1st, its a boy. We have one daughter, her name is Aida Samantha Jane.
We have been sort of planning on naming our son Harvey Emery Dean. But now that we've been referring to in-utero baby as "Harvey" for so long, we're both thinking that when he is actually a "real baby" its going to feel weird to call him Harvey. I hope that makes sense to someone other than me. Haha.
At any rate, I happened across the name "Arlo" today (in fact, it may have been in this community that I saw that,..) And now we both really like that.
So, WDYT of Arlo Emery Dean?
Is Arlo > Harvey in your opinion?
Would Aida & Arlo be a cute sibset? Cuter than Aida & Harvey?

All the best with naming your little guy!

Date: 2011-04-25 10:21 pm (UTC)Arlo Emery Dean > Harvey Emery Dean BUT Harvey > Arlo
I think Aida and Arlo sound nice together. Two names with the same first initial isn't too bad, but if you have a third child, is it going to look weird having one that doesn't start with an A or will you feel pressured to make it match the others? In my opinion, three names that start the same is too matchy. Aida and Harvey sound just as nice together and there are no initial issues. I guess that means I like Harvey the best.

Date: 2011-04-25 10:24 pm (UTC)I actually much prefer Harvey. I think Aida has a lovely retro quality that matches Harvey so perfectly. Like retro with style, but still uncommon and fresh sounding. Ditto with Dean, love it as a middle name!
Arlo is nice, although a little too trendy for my taste. (That celebrity blogger and that 6th Sense actress just named their babies Arlo this month.) Plus, Arlo and Aida both start with the same letter.
I still think Arlo is a nice, legit name. I just like Harvey better.
