Two of my students today--

Mirsa. Yes, pronounced just like the antibiotic resistant flesh-eating bacteria. OMG, I about died.

Jamyz Mikyll. Yeah, pretty sure I don't have to explain what's wrong with this one.

A friend of a friend on FB-- Nicole Coleson. Nothing wrong with ether name, but it amused me considering the general aversion here to repeating syllables/sounds like this (lol, I don't think this could actually be called alliteration?).

Um...Mirza is not so weird. I've seen it on two men of Iranian decent before. See also: Mirza (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirza).

I did not know that. For me, being only familiar with Mirza, Mirsa just seems like a variation to that name...I definitely thought "Iranian" before I thought "weird creepy infection". I guess it really depends where one is from and/or what one's connotations to a name are.
