what do you think of garland as a name? i've known a man and a woman named garland. i strongly prefer it for girls though. it's too flowery for boys.

I think it is awful. It sounds like a noun and a last name.

It SOUNDS more masculine to me.
The MEANING would be more feminine.

I don't like it on either, though.

But for the record, it is a boy's name, not a girl's.

Hmm, I could like it a little for a girl, though it always makes me think of Christmas or of Judy Garland and therefore, the Wizard of Oz. xD

Only as a guys name for me. I think it's because I think of it as a last name and I don't like the whole last name as a first name for girls.

Boys name to me, but nothing I'd use - way too noun-y.

It reminds me of Anne of Green Gables.

And Christmas.

i've never heard it as a name and never considered it. it is a very strange thing to name a person, in my opinion.

It sounds like a piece of clothing. Probably reminding me of the words "garment" and "garter". I can imagine it being a sophisticated version of a garter

The sound is masculine, but the meaning is quite feminine. I would have problems with this name.
