What do you think of Angus? Do you immediately associate it with cows/steak? I tend to think of it similarly to Ambrose - kind of old fashioned and a bit romantic.

I immediately think beef.

I love Ambrose but my husband doesn't, so it came off my list.

My first thought is always this movie:

That movie was my second though, first thought was burgers.

Absolutely not beef! XD I'm probably in the minority, here, though. :)

My FIL used to use that as his name when volunteering for the local Conservation district at their 'historical' weekend. :)

My husband loves Ambrose, though; it might wind up a middle name. Possibly. I don't know if I'm comfy with it as a first... the only NN's I can think of for it are Amber and Rose. ;D

When I hear Angus, I think of Louise Rennison's Georgia Nicholson series. The first book is Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging (there's a movie now too). In the books, Angus is a gigantic, hyper Scottish wildcat who they [somewhat] domesticate.

Those books literally made me LOL. Now I want to reread them!

Yeah, they made me laugh out loud too- even on my second and third re-reads!

First thought, beef.
Second thought, a chubby, red-headed kid with freckles. I have no idea why.

When my husband suggested it for baby boy #3, I couldn't get over my association with beef. Now though- I quite like it!

(I really wanted a baby named "Gus"- we named him August...and I never call him Gus, lol!)

In all honesty I think of my uncle's deceased rottweiler, Angus. He was a big sweetie. And I love the name Ambrose.

I think of Scotland...not a big beef eater. I think the name really grows on you. I once met two tiny boys at a park named Angus and Duncan, and they were ridiculously adorable and had great names. :)

I just thought of the one person who I actually know who has that name. And then how gross the name is.

I think beef. And just how ugly the word itself sounds to me. Sorry. :/

Honestly? Yes. One of the higher-ups in my company has that name and has earned the nickname "The Beef" as a result.

A friend in high school had a stuffed llama named Angus, so I think of that.

I have always hated this name; it just sounds really ugly/gross to me. =/

It makes me think of beef and the word "anus". Oh, and messy, chubby kids because of Two and a Half Men: the child actor is named Angus and his character is...one nasty little boy, lol. XP

I love Ambrose, but I don't know if I could bring myself to use it.

It's not that unusual here (Australia). Seems we do the Scottish names a little more here (eg Lachlan, Hamish)

I love Angus and surprisingly my boyfriend does too. But because it is so "out there" for other people. we've designated it to a pet name.
