we're pregnant with baby girl #2, due in july. my first daughter's name is mischa jade. i love that mischa is a fairly uncommon name. anyway. we're struggling naming this second girl. her middle name will be pearl. it keeps in theme with the gemstones names we have (jade, my name is crystal, we have a dog named amber...) and my sister's name is megan which means pearl. we like uncommon but not strange names. and we want the name to end in an A. no particular reason, i just really like the way a word looks that ends with an A. and with our daughter, we had a list of 3 names and we named her when she was born (those names were madelyn jessica, ella joanne, and mischa jade. i realize madelyn and ella are common but she was our first, so we didn't have any direction or style yet, now that we have to think of a name that goes with mischa, the list gets a little more unique.) my husband's name is jarratt.

names on our list and to get an idea of our style.

maya*
nya
nyla
nelia
klea
lyla*
ella*
skyla
lina
adelia
dahlia
neva
delia
cora

ones with * are probably too common but they stay on the list because we agree on them.

any other suggestions?

I think Mischa Jade is a beautiful name! Also like the gemstone theme...themey without being crazy matchy.

Of the names on your list, I like Maya, Neva and Dahlia, and also Klea...but I prefer it with a C.

Other suggestions:
Norah
Zorah
Linnea
Lyra
Zaria
Lena/Luna
Nina
Anya
Phaedra (FAY-drah - it's a Greek name)
Layla/Leila
Juna
Chiara
Aria
Ilona/Iona
Moira
Noelia
Isadora
Yara
Evanna
Lilia
Zivia
Clara
Eliza
Eliora
Sylvia
Vita

Good luck!

I love Cora. I MIGHT be partial to it, because instead of Cara it's what I was almost named. I always wished that's what I would have been named.

That's the name my fiance and I have picked out for a future daughter :). I also really like Corrine, but I have a relative named Corrine.

My daughter's name is Clea (well Cléa) and I think it's a beautiful name and I see a version of it is on your list so I vote for that.:) I think we have similar tastes in names because I see a lot on there that I like: Dahlia, Delia, Skyla, Lina, Ella, Lyla, Adelia...How about Delilah?

With the middle name Pearl I like:

nyla pearl
lyla pearl
lina (I like Lena better)
dahlia pearl (I think this goes very well with Mischa
cora pearl

Neva makes me think of a slang way to say Never - I don't like it for that reason.

I also like: nora pearl, eliza pearl, and sylvia pearl of the suggested names.

Ah. I didn't see that at all.

Ha, in that case I don't like it because I can't help but read it as nev-a

Maybe if it were spelled Niva. Niva Pearl sounds alright. :)

I think Dahlia Pearl is a little heavy on the nouns.

Cora Pearl is pretty. But my favorite is Neva Pearl!

Clara is one of my favorites. I like Cora and Sylvia as well, though I don't like Cora Pearl together. Sylvia Pearl is pretty. I prefer Cecily to Cecilia, but to use the "a" ending, Cecilia Pearl is nice too.

I think Mischa has a nice weight to it, and of those from your list, Dahlia or Delia match best. Some of the others seem a little lightweight in comparison.

Myla! When we had our second daughter her name was either going to be Myla or Aven (named her at birth, like you) and we chose Aven. But I've always loved Myla. Might be too matchy-matchy with Mischa though?

I like Cora best of the names you listed, but I don't really care for it with Pearl for some reason and I don't think it goes well with Mischa. Of the names you listed, I think Lina and Dahlia go the best with your daughter's name. I also like the suggested Phaedra and Moira. I think my favorites are Lina and Moira.

Lydia
Myla (I know it's already been suggested...I'm seconding it)

Ooh, I forgot Lydia- another of my favorite names ending in -a.

Lydia has long been my favorite name...but my husband HATEs it. I always wanted a little Liddy-bug.

I also just thought of Nora.

Nova?

Noa? (pronounced the same as Noah)

Zara?

Mila? (pronounced Me-lah)

I like Zara Pearl a lot, but of the names chosen Neva Pearl is my favorite, followed by Dahlia Pearl. I think Mischa and Neva sound great together!

You've got a great list! I don't have a lot of ideas within that style, but I have to say that Nya is wonderful.

I just lost my (cat) Nya in October. I've met one little girl with the name and she was adorable!

My name is Georgia and even though in general I don't love it, I've always thought it went really nicely with Pearl.

I vote for Adelia Pearl

I love Nyla, but I'm not a huge fan of Nyla Pearl. Maybe Nyla Ruby? Nyla Jasper is very pretty, but you'd have to be comfortable giving her a traditionally-male middle name, and of course that leaves you with almost no options if you ever have a son.

How do you prn Mischa?
Like Mee-sha? Mish-ah? Or like Mish-ca?

I like it a lot =]

My votes go to Delia and Cora.

I also think Leona Pearl would sound nice? or Luna Pearl?
