i met a boy today named Church.
i asked him if it was his real name and not just his last name or a nickname.
he said it was his real name. i thought that was kinda cool.

i watched Country Strong the other day.
the character that Leighton Meester played was named Chiles (pronounced like Giles, with the ch- sound)

Those both sound awful. Chiles sounds worse, especially because it's supposed to be a girl's name.

I LOVE Church...I almost named my cat that. I'm not religious at all, but I like the way the name sounds. Also...it's the evil cat from Pet Sematary.

i work with someone who has the last name Chiles, but I wouldn't see it as a first name.

I've been trying to figure out if Chiles was supposed to be short for anything, lol. I think they just picked a name that they could spin as "Southern" to suit her character. I don't hate it, though. Or Church. Makes me think of Winston Churchill.

I have a friend whose nickname is "Church" (not really sure on the back story there). His real name is Kevin though.

Chiles would be pretty bad if it was "chill-ees" or "chee-lays" but "chy-ulz" is even worse.

I kinda like Church, but Chiles as it's written means "peppers" in spanish, so it's a NO NO for spanish speaking families like mine. lol
