It's a boy for Cynthia Nixon and Christine Marinoni! Marinoni gave birth to the couple's son, Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni, on Monday, Feb. 7. The Sex and the City (Nixon)star has two children, Samantha, 14, and Charles, 8, from her previous relationship.

as a jazz lover i feel sort of biased on the name ellington.

I love the sound of it and Ellington is pretty cool--kind of a guilty pleasure.

I have to disagree with you there. While I usually don't like nicknames being used as names, Maximilian Ellington Nixon-Marinoni is a mouth-full and I would feel terrible for the kid when it came time for him to learn how to write his name. The boy has a really long last name and middle name, so I think it was probably smart for his parents to give him a very short first name.

Not necessarily. I don't know if this is standard, but my nephew isn't allowed to "graduate" kindergarten until he can write his full legal name (and my nephew's full legal name is more than 30 letters long. Not one of his parents' better thought-out moves), so it could be a bit of a pain. And if you're going to bank on him being called Max, why not just name him Max?

I really like Max Ellington, but I feel like Max Nixon-Marinoni has those Xs way too close together for it to really flow.

The names aren't on my list or anything, but they're fine. I think Maxwell would sound better with his half? step? siblings' names and would break up the x's in Max Nixon-Marinoni.
