Tabitha

WDYT?

One of my best friend's daughter's names is Samantha and they'll likely grow up together-- would that be too much?

eta-- Lol, I just asked my husband what he thought of it. He said it was cute, we could call her Tabby. Another names we like is Catherine and I love the nn Kitty (which is kind of ironic, because my mother's mother, where I'm getting the name, switched the family name from Katherine to Catherine so no one would call my mother Kitty). Oh lordy, Tabby and Kitty! Good twins names, y/y? :D

When I was a kid I wanted to name my kids Samantha and Tabitha. I still love the names, I'd use them if I didn't find other names I liked more. I don't think kids are going to think of Bewitched and even without the reference they're not overly matchy.

I love it. My name is Samantha and it's on my list just because of the Bewitched connection. I don't think it's too much. =]

I love Tabitha! I know a girl named Tabitha and it's so cute and relatively rare.

Oh and no, Tabitha and Samantha are definitely not too close to be like wtf? Plus, nn's could be completely different.

Ah I didn't even think of that but tbh I wonder if the next generation will know that series?

probably not. i'm 34 and saw it in re-runs on nickelodeon.
unless they're still showing it?

Yeah I'm 21 and my mom would watch it on re-runs and got me into it a little... but I doubt it's played now. And they aren't even sisters (the children that would be named Samantha and Tabitha) so I don't think it would be a problem.

For older people, yes. Bewitched? Little kids probably won't get the reference.

I'm not a big fan, but it's not horrible. I really dislike the nickname Tabby, though.
No, I don't think Samantha and Tabitha are too much. =)

I adore Kitty as a nickname, however, I don't think the way Katherine/Catherine is spelled would/should make a difference for Kitty NN.

My Great-Grandma didn't want me to be named Jennifer, because of the Jenny (female donkey) connotations. People are funny sometimes. :)

Tabitha makes me think of a snobby girl, similar to Veronica. But I still think it's a nice name. And Samantha and Tabitha sound like best friends:)

Oddly enough, I like Katherine over Catherine. Kitty would be a nn for either. I mean, you have a Cat, and you call it your Kitty, so you wouldn't HAVE to spell it with a K for the nn. Katherine and Tabitha would be very nice twin names, but Tabby just doesn't seem like a good nn for a child, heh.

I like Tabitha! It's my sister's name :) I think Tabby is a sweet nickname, but my grandmother hated it so she gave my sister the nickname of Taffy (I couldn't pronounce Tabitha well when we were small) and it stuck, so unfortunately she's never really gone by Tabitha in her life.

I also like Katherine/Catherine, and I want to like Kitty...I do in theory...but it just sounds really sexual to me, like slang for female genitalia, and it rhymes with "titty" and...yeah. :( I do really like Kit and Cat, and of course the classic Kate/Cate!

See, I don't think of the sexual reference... I just think of the mom from That 70's Show, heh.

Tabitha and Samantha make me smile because of the Bewitched connection.

I met a little girl once whose name was Tabitha Kathleen.
Her nickname was Tabby Kat.

I also know a Kaitlin and a Colleen who go by Kat and Cat, respectively.

I adore both names, and while I did grow up watching old Bewitched reruns (and most people reading this post have also made the connection), I think that even the older generation you're worried about wouldn't make fun of them!

They're not siblings, just potential friends...and even if they WERE siblings, the names flow so nicely as a sibset and I think rather than make fun of the similarity to the show, it would make people smile, like it did the rest of us!

Tabby is an awesome nickname. I'm not a fan of Kitty.

My cousins name is Tabatha. I remember wishing I had a cool name too growing up! Her mom didn't let anyone call her "Tabby" but now at 21 years old, that's how my cousin introduces herself :)

I adore Tabitha! I think the Bewitched thing is old and obscure enough now, especially to the rising generation, that it won't matter. Even if someone notices, since they're not sisters, it'll be more like an awesome coincidence.

Catherine/Kitty is adorable, too... but yeah, sisters named Tabby and Kitty would be too much!

I love Tabitha, great name. It was my nickname as a child (don't ask, lol, it really has nothing to do with my own name, it's weird), and I'd like to use it to honor the uncle who gave it to me.

I don't think any young'uns even watch Bewitched anymore, so none of their friends would even notice! It'd just be something our generation plus would think was either OTT or cute.

And I think it's cute.
