Cian, pronounced like Shawn (female)
i'll admit, i like Shawn, Shawna, or Shawnie for a girl.
but i dont like this spelling at all..it looks like Cy-Ann or a poor spelling of Cheyenne to me
so wdyt?

Cian is not pronounced Shawn. It's pronounced KEEN or KEE-an and it's masculine.

Why not use Siobhan if you want the "Shawn" sound and an irish name?

I actually kind of like Cian, Ciara and Ciaran (any variation), but when they are pronounced correctly!

Well they may very well pronounce it Shawn like you said, I just meant that the actual name isn't pronounced that way. It's an irish name that's pronounced Keen or Kee-an.

It is but it's closer to having a "Shawn" sound than Cian, which is pronounce Kee-an or Keen.

I want to say See-an or Kee-an. Not Shawn.

Sure you're not thinking of Sean? ;)

So this is weird to me. I can't get Shawn out of Cian. I have a good friend named Cian and its pronounced like Key-an. I've even seen it pronounced like Keen...never Shawn, though.

I would pronounce that as key-an if I saw it, but I have a few friends called Sian.

I could see the "sh" sound because I've seen the last name Cichan before, and it was pronounced like Sheehan. However, I don't get how the "an/ian" turned into the "awn" sound.

My middle name is Siân, pronounced Sharn.

I'm not reading it as Shawn.
I only like Shawn on boys.

Cian is pronounced KEEN. Sian is a girl's name pronounced SHAN.
