my friend just had a baby named Temperance. what do you think?

Normally, I'm not a fan of word names, but I have a weakness for Temperance. Probably due to my love of Bones. =)

Do you mean noun names? All names are word names...

It's not terrible but tbh it reminds me of Temperament... which can be appropriate for a young child I suppose. What are nn's used for the name, do you know?

I know a little 2 year old named Temperance, her parents call her Temper. Not such a great nickname! On Bones, they sometimes call her Tempy.

That's what I was thinking! Temper is the first nn I can think of, but it's not so great!

I like it but it does remind me immediately of the TV Show Bones. (that I love btw and am in the middle of watching season 5 on Netflix)

My husband axed it from my list if we ever have a girl for that reason.

My husband's ex gf (who still tries to contact him "Do you miss me?" even though they broke up when they were 16-17 and we're 25 now!! She's also married!) named her baby that, so I'm biased in my dislike, though I don't really like it a whole lot anyway. She calls her/spells it Tempe.

I actually enjoy it! I think Temper is actually an adorable nickname, too...if the child fits it (which they tend to do)! =) I picture a little redhead.

I like it. I want to say 'a lot', but I won't go that far, lol. But I do like it.

It's been growing on me lately. Quite pretty.

I actually like it...probably because I love Bones. I plan on using it for my next cat.

I like the sound of it but couldn't imagine using it since it doesn't have any good nn possibilities. That's not to say a name has to have a nn; I just feel like this one needs one.

Dislike. I like Tempest in a so-so way, but Temperance is just a wee bit over the top for my taste.

Bones. Though, I like it.

LOVE IT. Temperance is one of my guilty pleasure names. I don't think I could ever use it because we're big 'Bones' fans, though. They call her Tempie for short. :)

Does she watch Bones?

Personally, it's not my style, but it's not the worst name out there. Not worse than Charity, Hope, Faith, Prudence...
