Sorry, I'm all about the polls lately.

Q1 - I'm falling in love with Hebrew names lately, especially these four. Which one do you like best? Why? I think these are all tied for my #4 spot for boys.

Q2 - I'm just curious on this one. My name and my three friends' names - which do you like best? (All born between 1986-1987)

Q3 - Again, I'm curious. My brother's name and his four friends' names - which do you like best? (All born between 1983-1985)

It's funny to me how the NN options for the last question completely altered my answer lol.

Haha, I just went by what they go by. I like Drew better than Andy, but the rest are what I'd use, I think. I love Alex...and while I like Michael better in it's full form, I like Mike, too.

I definitely prefer Drew and I like Patrick "whole" lol.

I have past issues with the name Michael so I can never pick that for anything good ever again.

What would you use instead?

I would keep Michael as Michael. Andy isn't terrible but I prefer Drew ( and I just read you do too) and I hate the name Pat. I cant think of anything else so I guess just Patrick.

I've actually heard of using the nn Rick for Patrick, which is OK, but...I think I prefer just Patrick, too. Pat isn't horrible, but I don't love it. Michael and Patrick I'd use as mns simply because I don't like the nns that much and the odds of a kid going through school without being called Mike or Pat are pretty much nonexistent. Andrew isn't on my list at all, I don't think.

I like Alex, though...although I think I like it better on a girl (nn for Alexandra), and Eli's on my list.

Yeah I like the name Alexandra. I like Alex or Lexy for a nn.

Paddy is the name of my friends step mom-shes not so cool, so I hate it. It really isnt a nice name anyways.

I can't bring myself to answer the poll because I absolutely despise all of the girl names, so I'll answer the other two questions here: Jonah (my #1 for a boy) and Andy.

i voted jonah, but i think noah is a great name, too. so is elijah, but it's pretty popular right now. i love hebrew names.

They're some of my favorites - they tend to be that perfect mix of cute for a child and sophisticated/grown-up for an adult, and they don't get used as often anymore because people are trying to be so unique. names like that don't tend to be as trendy as say, aidan or dylan, yet they're common enough that people don't mispronounce them or give you weird looks if you name your kid that.

I looked at your 2nd poll and immediately thought "How 1980s" in my head because those were my classmates names for the most part. I actually chose Alyssa because I never knew anyone in my grade with that name.

Haha, exactly! Our parents definitely went all out with the 80s.

Our siblings include another Jennifer (1982), a Jessica (1995), and a Katelyn (1993), so you can tell our parents all liked the trends ;).

My parents are really not trendy though and claim Im named after 2 of their good friends (Courtney Dawn). Have I ever met these people though? do my parents still know them? Can my parents tell me there last names? no , no and no. i think there's some lying going around my house lol

alexander and alex are nice to me, but i prefer michael, andrew and patrick over their nicknames.

i actually do, too. michael, especially, i would want to keep as the full name...same with patrick, i think. andrew seems too formal, but i don't especially like andy or drew, so i don't think i'd ever use it.

Q1: I picked Jonah, because they others I'm interested in (except Noah which is taken by my bf's latest nephew)!
But I also do really like Jonah, I just wouldn't use it myself.

Q2: I picked Alyssa because I have a guy friend named Courtney, so to me it's a guy's name, I know 3 people named Lindsay so it's a tad popular and Jennifer is even more popular.

Q3: I picked Andrew, but I don't dislike any of the other names.

i know a sister set that are lindsey and courtney

I probably would have picked Lindsey, but spelled with the e. I don't like the A. It always makes me think "lind-SAAAAAAY" everytime I read it.
