what do you think of io?

[identity profile] schexyschteve.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
It's...strange.

[identity profile] requiem-morrow.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
I adore it. Its one of my favorite names ever. I worry that it may be too "out there" to use, though.

[identity profile] my-lil-bon-bon.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Lol...I giggled when you said "out there." Not sure if that was a pun because Io is one of Jupiter's moons and that Io is way out there...hehe, but that's what I think of when I think of Io!

[identity profile] requiem-morrow.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, its my favorite ice moon....ok, I only know like ten moons and most of them are either Greek mythology or Shakespearean in origin.

I prefer iola or even iolani, io is cute but very....clipped sounding. Also, saying it out loud makes me think of Hi-Ho and the seven dwarfs :/

[identity profile] xnaivetex.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yes this! The second I read it, my head automatically said, "Io, Io it's off to work I go.."

[identity profile] amyeliz.livejournal.com 2011-01-26 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
This. I think it would be sweet as a nickname, but it just looks like an acronym to me. It sounds nice aloud, but written it seems lacking.

[identity profile] amyeliz.livejournal.com 2011-01-26 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
*I should say, the "this" I was referring to was that it sounds clipped. Not so much Seven Dwarfs to me.

immediate thought was optimum online/iO digital cable (which then made me think of their awful reggaeton commercial they had a few years ago). this is probably null and void if you don't live in the PA/NJ/NY area.

what about iona?

[identity profile] a-tergo-lupi.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
I kinda like it, but I think it may be a bit much (or little, as it happens).

[identity profile] twinklieetoes.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
That's a name?

[identity profile] joereaves.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Io_(mythology))

[identity profile] hilzarie.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
I've loved it ever since I found out about the moon.

[identity profile] ex-thegreyl.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Makes me think of the new version of The Clash Of The Titans

[identity profile] let-letitbe.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Is it pronounced eye-oh or ee-oh? If it is eye-oh, then I love it. The other pronunciation makes me think of old mcdonald.

[identity profile] joereaves.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
I quite like mythological names but that one's too out there for me. Plus I'm not sure I'd want to use a name which is associated with being turned into a cow.

[identity profile] requiem-morrow.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
but she was quite a lovely cow o.o

lol

i have the same issue with Echo...love the name, but not really a myth you want to name your kid after

[identity profile] spaceandclouds.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
That's my issue with Echo, too. Such a pretty name!

[identity profile] frost.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
I kind of like it. =)

[identity profile] pumpkindoodles.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
My friend has a "thing" for vowels and she loves this name. I am pretty sure she has a cat named Io. Her sons are Ian, Evan, and Aaron ;)

[identity profile] spaceandclouds.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I like short names, and I like out-there names, but Io just looks...unfinished to me.

[identity profile] hoboheart.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Potential for being pronounced EE-O....which sounds like "ew"

[identity profile] cybeleadam.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It's "I" in Italian but I guess it doesn't matter outside Italy.
I used it as a nickname for Iona in a fiction.
