How would you pronounce the name Kyriay?

That's right, folks. That is a name. A girl I work with has two daughters:

Mallaurie Ahlexus (pronounced Mallory Alexis) and Teishauna Kyriay.

*shudder*

I only know their full names from her facebook profile. I am dying to find out how she pronounces Kyriay but don't know how to ask. So I turn to you. Any guesses?

I wouldn't pronounce Kyrie as KEER-ee-ay. I'd pronounce it KIE-ree

I don't know, but trying to work it out is giving me a headache.

Based on the way the other name is pronounced, probably something like "Kyra" or "Kiera". I wouldn't be surprised if this was a case of kre8tive spelling gone terribly awry.

My mind also went to Ky-rah but then the extra i and y really threw me off. I somehow hadn't even thought of it being a variation of Kyrie...I now think everyone is right about Kear-ee-ay.

That still does not make this right...grammatically OR morally!

I knew a family with that as their last name. It was 'kree-ay'. But they had the common sense to choose easily pronounced first names.

I know...overall, she has done a great injustice to both her girls. Mallaurie looks like a made up Irish name that should be pronounced M'LOR ee. Ahlexus is just disgusting.

Haha, I know. Very tongue-in-cheek over here. When she sent out the mass text announcing her new daughter's name, we were all pronouncing it M'LOR ee, thinking she had just made up another name entirely. And as for Ahlexus...*gag*

With Mallaurie Ahlexus I want to shift the emphasis so that it's pronounced Mah-LAUR-ee AH-lex-us. Just because it's spelled so weirdly.

I'm also guessing Kyriay would be pronounced like Kear-ee-ay.
