I think I like it. It's kind of old-fashioned, but in a refreshing way.

It's my cousin's name and we call her Flo...

I love it. It's my cousin's name...It's in French though which I think sounds better than the English pronunciation.

What is the French pronunciation?

Usually I think of an older lady, but I was on a cruise a few years ago where I came upon a bartender from Indonesia named Florence. A male bartender. Spelled exactly that way. =/

I LOVE it. It's been one of my favorite names since I was 13.

I think I'm just kind of neutral. At first, I thought of Florence + The Machine, which is cool and young, but then I thought of Florence Henderson, which is uncool and old. It would never by my choice to use, but if I was with someone who loved it, I probably would.

It's too old lady-ish for me. I just can't picture anyone under 70. I even know who Florence Welch is and I still can't see it as a young woman's name.

First impressions are initially thinking of Florence + the Machine which is awesome, and Florence Nightingale which is also fine. I don't really like the nickname Flo, but Florence in itself isn't a bad name. I feel kinda neutral about it.

I really love it. To me it has a freshness about it, elegance and works well for all ages.

I kind of like it, but I've been hearing it a lot lately.

Also, Flo is a HORRIBLE nickname, haha.

I don't like it. It sounds old to me, and it makes me think of the dentist. I guess it's the similarity to floss and fluoride. :P

Isn't Flossie a variant of/nickname for Florence, too?

I think so! I was thinking that too after I posted it. :)

It's my sister's middle name! She doesn't like it much, and I'm not really a huge fan either. I do kind of like the nn Flo, even though there's Aunt Flo and all that stuff to deal with lol. Sooo.

Not my style, but it's a very nice name. It makes me think of someone strong, intelligent, and graceful.

Oh, and I know you didn't ask, but wrt nick-names, I'd go with Lorie rather than Flo.

Seconding this. Or Florie, or maybe even Flossie!

Aww, Flossie makes me think of The Bobbsey Twins (Yeah, I spelled that wrong, I think. . .)

That's my grandma's name! :) Her middle name is Josephine.

I don't like it - it's too old-fashioned for my taste.

I like it, but I hate the nickname Flo. I think it's going to rise in popularity because of Florence + the Machine

In my case, associated mostly with a very old woman at my church known for answering her door in the nude. O___O

Without that association, I would probably see it much as I do Flora-- an elegant pressed-flower of a name, a little too musty for my taste but cute on someone else's kids.

It makes me think of my great aunt of the name. She's the only person I know with the name. That's pretty much the extent of my thinking on the name; I'm completely neutral on it.

Well, I like it. Though I'm hopelessly biased as it was my mothers name. =D Her nicknames were Flo and Flossy. ♥

My word association immediately said "Henderson".
