babynamesI really hope someone can help me. I'm nearly 37 weeks pregnant with my second boy. I'm due on January 28th but scheduled to be induced on the 24th (if I make it to then). My boyfriend and I cannot agree on ANY names for this baby and I'm starting to lose hope. Nothing he likes is really clicking for me and everything that does click for me and feels like that could be the name, he says no to. It makes me sad because we came up with our first son's name the day we found out he was a boy and then just had to decide on a middle name. I'm super frustrated and I just need to find something. So I'm asking for suggestions. Our 2 year old son's name is Carter Erik Nelson. Carter we both loved right away, Erik is my boyfriend's name, and Nelson is his last name. I'm trying to find something that will sound nice with Carter. I feel I have a hard time because of the last name sometimes. A lot of names I like end in "N" or "son". The "N" might be okay but "son" is a no go. I'm open to anything but we don't really like "odd" names and I we can't stand any of the "den" names (Aiden, Jaden, Hayden, etc). We don't want anything outrageous but we also don't want anything that's really common. Any suggestions would be great though as I feel like I'm out of ideas.

Date: 2011-01-05 08:17 am (UTC)Fights urge to suggest you name the second boy Nicholas/NickolasHmm... I am really no help here, cause all the names I really like end in "N" (Tristan, Lincoln, Landon, Quentin, Aiden, etc.)

Date: 2011-01-05 01:52 pm (UTC)What I finally did was make a list of about 50 names and make him cross out the ones he absolutely hated. We were left with four named and it wasn't difficult to narrow it down from there.
Our son's name is Weston, by the way. Might be too rhymey with Carson, but it doesn't end in -son! :)

Date: 2011-01-05 02:03 pm (UTC)I really like Liam too and it's on out list but Erik wasn't sure because the last name will be Nelson and he thought it might sound too much like Liam Neeson. I could care less about that but I also saw it's pretty high on the top name list. Though I haven't heard of a lot of baby Liams myself.

Have you trieed Nymbler yourself? www.nymbler.com - you could use Carter, Erik, Parker and Liam as inspirations and the website will generate names for you based on the names you use as inspirations. It could be very helpful.

Date: 2011-01-05 10:39 pm (UTC)I used to love Jackson (though it's super common now) when I was pregnant with my son but Jackson Nelson just did not sound right! It bugs me that the last name starts in N and I feel like that's limiting, but I'd rather have a double N than a rhyming name! We currently like Dillon Nelson but I'm not sure how it sounds and my mom and sister are SO against it because of someone they don't like named Dillon.. who I've never even met!!

I actually went to high school with an Eric Nelson and when I started seeing my Erik while I was in high school, I always had to specify that it was not the guy in our class. Then after I had Carter and reconnected with some people from high school, some who I wasn't super close to thought I was with the Eric Nelson from school haha.

Well I really like Connor but I'm not a huge fan of alliteration with children's names, BUT I don't think it would seem like you're going overboard if you have a Connor and a Carter.
How close are you and the friend? Would your children be in school together or be seeing each other often? That's kind of how I guage the "same name" thing.
