A good friend of mine is going to have a little girl this December and I just found out the other day what they're planning to name her:

Sophia Selena Thibeaudeaux (their last name)

At first, I cringed.. but it's growing on me. I really like Sophia.. I'm not completely sold on Selena yet.

What do you guys think?

Sophia is one of my favorite girl names. (: Congrats to your friends!

It's kind of sing-songy with the double S and double -a endings. And it just seems... swirly. Like it would be written in highly curly cursive with lots of flourishes. But I rather like it for this reason. I like long highly feminine names.

Sophia on its own is nice, but really too popular for my taste. I know several babies/toddlers with this name. It just seems to be the *it* name in circles I run in. (Jack being the hot one for boys.)

Congrats to your friend... and the names are cute - but they don't necessarily go well with the last name in my opinion... I dunno - something about it just strikes me as odd.

I like the whole double S deal.

heh.. the first time she told me what her "boyfriend" (now husband)'s name was.. my eyes just about popped outta my head.. I was thinking.. holy crap! They go by Thib-- pronounced Tib-- most of the time.. it just makes it easier.. haha

That's my cousin's last name- you don't hear that to much. I think she and her husband have thought about using the name Sophia. I think it's ok- but I'm not big on how it sounds with Selena.

That is one crazy last name. haha and the name Sophia isn't so bad, but I don't like the name Selena too much.

I just don't like the fact that both the first and middle names end in an "a". I think it would be tons better as "Sophie Selena" or "Sophia Selene"

I used to have a baby doll named Celine, pron the same as Selene. =)

i guess i'm the odd one out: i love Selena but am sort of iffy on Sophia. but i wouldn't've used the two together. both names start with S and end with A. not something i prefer.

I like Sophia. I like Selena but in my mind I always think of the singer. I don't like them together but not because of the double-S but because the endings of the names don't work well with each other. I prefer the Sophia Selene someone else mentioned.

I wish they'd use Selena as the FN. It's not a favourite of mine, but it's much more uncommon and to me, that makes it much nicer.

Their last name is the worst part of it, I think. Sophia Selena is kind of cute, though the repetition of the s and a is kind of annoying.

Or just combine Benson & Stabler and make it Stabson or Stabeson.

I love it. I think it's gorgeous. Of course, I have an association with Selena that makes me like it, but I think it's a lovely name besides.
