I don't mind it, although like the PPs said it kind of reminds me of mean girls from school. Seems the melanie I knew was mean. I know a melanie now though that is really awesome.
I love it and I think it sounds great paired with Elise. I had a good friend growing up named Melanie. She was this cute little red head, one of the few people I know who was shorter than me. I keep hoping she'll pop up on Facebook someday because I lost touch with her and I'd love to know what she's doing. She was a real sweetheart so I get a great vibe with that name.
My first thought is I don't like the long E of Melanie going into the long E of Elise. But people wouldn't be calling her Melanie Elise all the time, I guess. It's not horrible, but not my taste at all.
