So, my husband and I are pretty set on the first name Atticus. We're due in three weeks :)

First of all, what do you guys think of that name? I'm not up on any trends - is it too trendy? Too dorky?  Our second choice is Matthias...

Our last name is Acquaviva.

I'd love to be able to have a middle name to honor my family - my father is my best friend and has taken care of me from day one.  The trouble is that I don't think any of the names that would represent him or that side of the family sound good with ANY of our name picks...we could use the last name as a middle name (Kern), or we could use Jeffrey or Richard.

Any suggestions?  And if nothing fits with Atticus - any first names that would go well with one of those middle names plus Acquaviva as a last name?

(FYI Acquaviva is pronounced like aquafina)

I love both Atticus and Matthias! I think either Jeffrey or Richard go just fine with the first name choices.

Your last name is completely badass.

Not gonna lie, I'd have the exact same reaction. Whenever I'm interested in a guy, I totally always go, "and how would my name sound with that?" The Finnish guy I dated totally holds the record for "best last name"--Pakarinen! I'd've been Nikki Pakarinen. It didn't last, obviously, but man, he set the bar high.

Pakarinen is really cool, especially if paired with Nikki.

Haha, I see I'm not the only one who thinks so!

I think Atticus Jeffrey sounds great!

Maybe you can look up the meaning of the names Jeffrey and Richard and find another name with the same meaning, so you can still honor your Dad?

this. Atticus makes me think "attic" which makes me think "Flowers in the Attic".

Same for me! I also think it sounds nicer with your last name.

This is just my opinion, but I think Atticus Acquaviva is a little too much alliteration. If that doesn't bother you, though, Atticus is cool.

I like the suggestion someone else made of researching names with similar meanings to Jeffrey and Richard. I also like the way Kern sounds with both Atticus and Matthias. Having one syllable in the middle of two larger names flows well.

I think Atticus is a little trendy right now, but not enough to take solid root and be like a top 10 contender. I'm not a big fan of it either way, but I absolutely adore Matthias by the way!
Also, Acquaviva is an awesome surname!

I LOVE Atticus regardless of any trends. It is, and will always be, one of my all time favorite names.
I think with Kern as a middle, there will be too many K sounds in the name. Out of the ones listed, I think Richard flows best. It's kind of boring, tbh, matched with a name like Atticus, but I think it's a good way to honor your dad.

Whoa, cool surname!

I quite like Atticus...and Matthias. =)
I think both Jeffrey and Richard would work, but I kind of prefer the former.

Honestly, I think Atticus Acquaviva is quite a mouthful, and a lot of alliteration. Atticus is also pretty trendy right now, not as bad as the -aiden gang but a little more on the hipster side.

I think Matthias Acquaviva is unique, classy and wonderful.

Atticus Acquaviva is wayyyyy too much for me. I would definitely wonder what a parent was thinking with all that alliteration. It sounds like it's trying to be cute.

I think that Matthias Acquaviva is awesome, on the other hand, and it sounds really nice and unique without being ridiculous.

I think it's slowly getting more popular, but I still associate with with old southern men, as I think most people do, at least in the States. Matthias makes me think of old Jewish men or of young German men, depending on which pronunciation I use.

I think I have to agree with iamdamanda, though, Atticus Aquaviva is a little too much. Matthias Aquaviva is much better. I think Matthias Jeffrey Aquaviva would be a lovely name.
