naming possible girl--
Dec. 4th, 2010 04:57 pmMy husband and I find out on Thursday if our second bundle of joy is a boy or a girl. We're both totally and utterly set on Harvey, if he's a he. If we're having a girl, we're not sure what we want to name her. Here's the list of names we're considering,...
Nora
Gemma
Eleanor/Elinor
Lydia
Which do you like the best? This baby will be joining big sister Aida (pronounced Ade-uh). I love all these names and would be basically happy with any of them. My husband is absolutely in love with Eleanor so I'm thinking thats probably what we'll go with in the end. Assuming we're even having a little girl, of course.
My last question to you then, is, which spelling of Eleanor/Elinor do you prefer? I think personally I like the way Eleanor looks on its own better, but since we spelled Aida's name Aida instead of Ada, I'm wondering which is the preferred spelling in this case? I kind of like the way Aida & Elinor looks, better than Aida & Eleanor.
Baby's middle name will be Emery Lee/Leigh, regardless of what name we choose or what the sex of the little one is.
Thoughts?

Date: 2010-12-04 10:29 pm (UTC)The only one I'm unsure about is Gemma -- if you live in the US, where the name is less popular, I think I'd steer clear of that one. I hear people mispronounce it CONSTANTLY. That is less of a problem if you live in the UK (or anywhere else), where it is much more common and that's less of a concern.
Eleanor, for sure.
Lydia and Eleanor with Emery Leigh is a bit much -- I think I'd go with Nora Emery Lee.

Date: 2010-12-04 10:43 pm (UTC)I prefer Eleanor to Elinor, 100%. I think Aida and Elinor look overly matchy. Aida and Eleanor look really nice together! I'm not sure what I think about Eleanor Emery Lee though. I don't think it flows the best.
Nora Emery Lee
Gemma Emery Lee
Lydia Emery Lee
Hmmm. I like Nora Emery Lee the best I think! But then again, Nora can be a nn for Eleanor anyway.

Date: 2010-12-05 01:00 am (UTC)You could always go with Eleanor and use Nora as a nickname- two names you like in one. ;)

Date: 2010-12-05 03:04 am (UTC)Gemma Emery is too repetitive with the "em" sound.
Eleanor Emery is to repetitive with the "eh" sound.
My pick would be Lydia. :)
