(no subject)

what do you think of Xan (Christian variation)?

i've never seen it before until today!

Well, that would be pronounced Christan, not Christian. Xian would be Christian. And I understand that X = Christ, but I don't think most people are going to get that.

this. My friend's son Xan's name is short for Alexander/Xander.

Yep, I have a friend named 'Xan' (prn. Zan) which is short for Alexander.

I thought it was a Chinese surname...

Wait... that's pronounced Christian? O.o

[identity profile] schexyschteve.livejournal.com 2010-12-03 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
The X usually means Christ (remember when Christina Aguilera was Xtina [although it should have been Xina]?).

Yeah... but I still said "ex-tina" instead of Christina. I don't know. I would have NEVER got Christian out of Xan if I wouldn't have had a hint (I didn't even know until I saw your first comment, actually).

[identity profile] schexyschteve.livejournal.com 2010-12-03 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I did too, but that's where the X came from.

it's bloody awful

[identity profile] kjerlandsen.livejournal.com 2010-12-03 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it should be Xian. And I like it, however, most people wouldn't have a clue that X=Christ.

[identity profile] solitudete.livejournal.com 2010-12-03 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
If it is pronounced "zan" or something, maybe.. but as a form of Christian it is atrocious.

[identity profile] a-tergo-lupi.livejournal.com 2010-12-03 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
This.

And I'm also not a fan of declaring religions for unconsenting minors.

I only figured out that's supposed to be pronounced Christian because of the comments.
I was thinking Zan.
