My friend just gave birth to twin daughters

Penelope Alma Hudson (Nellie)
Philippa Ivy Hudson (Pippa)

Their older brother is named - Archie Oliver Hudson
Their Mummy is named - Martha Louise Hudson
Their Daddy is named - Vincent ??? Hudson

I think this is the most beautiful set of family names I have ever heard. Their Mum was worried about nameing them both 'P' names, but figured that their nick names would begin with different letters. She did have a back-up name - Clementine, but hated that it could be shortened to "Clem."

Just incase she ever has another baby, do you guys have any suggestion for a NN for Clementine?

I think Penelope and Philippa are a little similar (I guess it's all the P's) but I agree with you: these are awesome. Besides, their nicknames will be very different. I LOVE the name Pippa!

I love Penelope...Too bad she'll be called Nellie. I don't understand when people do that. If you want to call her Nellie, then call her Nellie.

Oh I hear you. I have no intentions of giving my kids nicknames.

And I don't mind nicknames if they're just an obvious shortening of the name, like my name is Emilie and some people always refer to me as Em. But when the nickname is an entirely different name as in this case, I just don't get why they just don't name the kid Nellie if that's what she'll go by for the rest of her lives. I know plenty do it, but I just don't understand why.

Wow, I absolutely love the twin names.

The only other nicknames that come to mind for Clementine are Em or Emmy.

Those names are awesome! I don't think they're too similar at all. They may start with the same letter, but they start with different sounds. Plus, yeah, different nicknames. I do prefer Penny as a nn for Penelope, but Nellie fits better with the other names.

I really don't care for Clementine. The only other nn I can think of is Tina, which I kind of hate.

i don't like any of those. penelope is ok.

i think teeny or teen is a cute nn for clementine.

and i meant to add i think the 2 p's are fine because its a different sound (p & ph) and they don't sound alike or rhyme!

Seconded on all counts. Plus the different nicknames (which are adorable!).

After seeing Inception a handful of times, I really like Philippa, and I used to hate it. I do still hate Pippa, though.

The names are all very British, it's a definite style.

The only thing I came up with for Clementine other than Clem or Clemmie is Mentie (Minty).
