While introducing myself to somebody the other day, he somehow misunderstood my name as: Italy.

I'm not sure how he managed to hear that but later that night I thought, "Oooh, Italy! Could be a pretty name." What do you think?

Also I'm babysitting a little girl named Olive. I wasn't too found of the name at first but it's growing on me. Do you think it's cute?

I don't like Italy.
Olive is cute... I like it, but probably wouldn't use it.

I don't like Italy as a name. The connotations with the country are too strong. Then again, I'm pretty sure that if I met someone named Italy, I could grow used to it.

It's funny that you mention Olive in the same post, because originally I never liked Olive because it reminded me too much of, well, olives. But then I saw Little Miss Sunshine and it reminds me of Olive in that movie...and recently it's really been growing on me, too. So yes, cute!

There is someone, either on Disney or Nickelodeon, who's sister is name Italia.

As for Olive, I like it, but it isn't my style nor a name I would ever use. Definitely cute, though.

I think you're thinking of Francia Raisa, who plays Adrian on Secret Life of the American Teenager. She has sisters named Italia and Irlanda.

That's what it was! I was on her imdb page forever ago and thought that was kind of cute.

Italy does sound pretty. I would need stronger ties to the country to use it myself though.

I'm not a huge fan of Olive but I think it's cute.

I don't really like Italy as a name but 2 of my guilty-pleasure place names are Sicily and Tuscany ;o)
Olive is okay... it's not really for me, but along the same lines (kind of abrupt, word name), I really like Opal.

I don't like Italy as a name. *says it repeatedly* I don't think I'd like it even if it weren't a country.

I've never liked the name Olive, but I hate it less than I used to.
I was just watching Little Miss Sunshine; the girl on there is named Olive. =)

I entirely adore Olive, it's my second favourite name for girls. Love, love.

I like some place names as baby names, but Italy is not one of them.

I'm not sure about Italy but Italia could work. Nickname Talia? Not at all a fan of Olive, mostly because I hate olives!

Out of curiosity, what's your real name that got misheard as Italy?
