I think it's nice. Is it masculine or feminine?

Hmmm, I think it sounds really nice (a lot more appealing than Amber) but for some reason I see it as a masculine name.

I couldn't ever see Ember as a masculine name, it seems so feminine to me. Do you know any male Embers? Just curious :)

My fiance played a character in our role playing game named Ember'El so I think that might be where it's coming from.

I love it. I don't like the idea that people would probably mistakenly call someone by that name Amber a lot, because Amber is one of my most hated names.

I agree with this SO MUCH. I liked the name Ember for about two seconds, before I realized everyone would be confusing/comparing the name to 'Amber', and I completely, utterly, hate that name!

I like it. I knew a girl in school named emberelle which I was not a fan off (too much like umbrella for me) she just went by ember

I think of the movie: City of Ember. which is where I first heard the name Lena and loved it.

It's an okay name, I like it much more than Amber, that's for sure.

I like it. I wouldn't personally use it only because it clashes with our last name (Raeder).

I like it. I wanted to name my daughter that but I had a bunch of people tell me it sounded like a stripper's name. I got worried about that, so I didn't use the name. But I still love it.

I really like it. I'd love to name a daughter November (my favourite month) with Ember as a nickname. The problem with November, though, is that if she's born in November it seems lazy and if she's not it makes no sense, so I'll probably never use it.

I have a friend named April who was born in July and I don't think it's a big deal.

I knew a girl named September who went by Ember.

I think it would be fine to use if she wasn't born in November. It's your favorite month and has special meaning to you.

Thanks! I like to think so, too.

My son August was born in December. I get the question "Was he born in August?" pretty often, but it doesn't bother me. The month August has special meaning to us. Not to mention it's my husband's grandpa's name and a really German name.. So it just fits us. As long as the name means something to you I don't think it matters! :)

I honestly don't know what I think. I kind of like the fact that it's got that nature-y flavor to it, but I can't decide what gender it would sound good on. I would probably use it for a pet, but not a child.

It sounds a little like a stripper name to me, but it's pretty. I think I could get past that connotation.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Ember started popping up just as Amber became dated. It's sort of like how Madison turned into Addison, Brian into Ryan, etc.

I really dislike it. It's too close to Amber, which is a name I hate.

Part of me loves it. It's unique without being batshit crazy, plus it's cute. The other part of me hates it because it reminds me of Amber, and I loathe that name. So I'll go with a happy medium and say I like it. :)

I think I tend to like it more when it's a nn - I really liked the above post about using it as a nn for November. I think on it's own it's beginning to veer to close to trendy for my personal taste.
