so Dexter has a new character.
her name is Lumen Pierce. (pronounced LOU-men)
i'd never heard the name Lumen b4 so i decided to do sum research.
this is wat i found:

@ www.babynames.com the closest name i could find to Lumen was Lumina.
@ www.wikipedia.com there were several articles on the subject of Lumen.

1.) Lumen (band) a Russian punk band
2.) Lumen (anatomy) the cavity or channel within a tubular structure
3.) Thylakoid Lumen, the inner membrane space of the chloroplast
4.) 141 Lumen, an astroid discovered by the French astronomer Paul Henry in 1875
5.) Lumen (unit) the SI unit of luminous flux

when i did a google search there were answers with everything from:  "the measure of the power of light perceived by the human eye", Loyola University Medical Education Network (LUMEN), and a simple and beautiful puzzle game for OS X and iPhone

i think it's an interesting name.
made up or not, i think it's quite pretty for a girl.
soo wat do ya'll think?

I like it. My dad always talks about Lumen as the light measurement and I always thought to word sounded nice.

I looked it up, too. My google showed it as a Roman boys name. I don't like it...

I'm in the medical field so I tend to picture your second definition from above and that is not a pretty picture, but with that said I'm sure you will find many people who like the name. I think everyone should choose a name to their liking and have a good reason for their choice because your kids are sure to ask why you chose that name and it's always nice when there is a story behind their name also write down what you were going to name them if they had been the other sex with the story behind this. They will enjoy that story as well.

The first thing that came to mind for me was light... I've read similar names in fantasy books, so that's what I think of [fictional characters]; I'm not sure I like it.

There's a Dutch television host who called her child, a boy, Lumen. I always liked the sound of it. In interviews she's said it means "light", which makes sense. I believe even in Latin it's a conjugation of the word for "light" (lux) but I'm not a 100% sure on that.

I'm in the medical field as well, so "lumen" brings to mind some pretty unsavoury images ): but if I associated it with light, it sounds quite pretty
