Any Alabama fans out there?

I live in south Alabama. Most people LOVE college football here and have to make a choice at birth (LOL) of either Auburn or Alabama. If you know anything about the University of Alabama, they are known as the Crimson Tide and you can usually pick out a fan yelling "ROLL Tide" "Roll Tide roll" etc.  On to the fun part....

So my coworker comes in and starts asking me if I had a name picked out for my daughter yet. I tell her no and she said well a friend of mine just had their son and named him...

Rollin Tide

I started laughing thinking she was joking but she wasn't. Poor kid. He doesn't have a chance.

HA! I live in Alabama.. I think that is soooo wrong to do to your child. I would have laughed thinking it was a joke, too! I think I could see someone naming their kid "Aubrie" (for Aubie/mascot) because they are an Auburn fan better than Rollin Tide. At least Aubrie is a real name!

I haven't heard of any War Eagle babies yet so that is promising. LOL. The people could have spelled Rollin as Rolan so at least he could pretend he had a normal name. I really hope their kid goes to Auburn just to piss of his parents!

LOL now that would be funny!! I was a super creep and went to your profile.. I used to live where you are! Grew up there my first 13 years of life and all of my family is still down there. I'm in Montgomery now, but live in Biloxi for quite a while, too.

I moved here after Katrina with my husband a few years ago. I'm originally from Waveland. :) It's sad I had to go check my info to see what I had down for location. I love all my communities but I'm lame and don't write in my journal anymore so I had no idea what I had put down. :)

That's crazy! I moved to Montgomery after Katrina.. I had lived in Montgomery before and this was the only place I had to last minute evacuate, so I pretty much stayed here since my job/child's daycare was destroyed. LJ can be such a small workd sometimes! I knew a guy who lived in Waveland.

This name makes me sad :C

I actually live in Tuscaloosa (home of the University of Alabama), and even though I was born and raised here.. I really REALLY hate football.

If Alabama's team continues to do well I have a feeling we will see more names like this around here :/

Pretty ridiculous, but they could have picked a school with a much worse mascot. At the University of Maryland, we are the terrapins ("terps"). The Terp at all the athletic games is named Testudo. Any of those choices would be beyond awful.
